I'm getting around to fit the rear spoiler - I bought it a second hand one from Chevronics but left it in the garage until now.
Now I had a look at the service manual and the spoiler itself, it needs 5 special brackets to be pop riveted first.
Unfortunately the spoiler didn't come with any of the fitting hardware so I'm well screwed - has anyone used alternate methods? Perhaps gluing with sealant/adhesive? There is no other way of mechanically attaching it other than fabricating the exact brackets by the looks of it.
Cheers
Sam

Re: Fitting GSA rear spoiler
Do you have dimensions for the brackets? I could probably make you a set if they are flat.

Re: Fitting GSA rear spoiler
it looks like a two-piece part, L shape piece where short leg has a nut plate (or clip nut) to which you screw in the back of the spoiler. front part is a hook to which leading edge of the spoiler clips in. I'd upload a photo but photobucket is not working for me. if you have a factory manual 811-2, its in section GX.844-4 figure GX. 85-1.

Unfortunately no manual, If you can get some pics up later and measurements I'll do my best to make you a set.

Re: Fitting GSA rear spoiler
I sent Chevronics email about it - they "should" have the brackets and "should have" sent with the spoiler so hopefully they'll come through.
I live in NZ so it's a bit of a way to fab and send them.

Re: Fitting GSA rear spoiler
It's fun though, if you have no luck pm me. I'd love to say I built a bit of a GSA.

turns out the brackets are extra - same price as the spoiler itself!!!

Managed to get the photobucket working.
If I can find the right thickness steel sheet, probably not too difficult...

Re: Fitting GSA rear spoiler
Good stuff.
You'll need to know the dimensions: A, B, and C too.
Shouldn't be hard to make (says he from the other side of the globe . . . )

Re: Fitting GSA rear spoiler
I have the spoiler so A, B & C should be fairly straightforward... In fact, I'd better go and take measurements while at it.
By the way, how necessary is the rear hatch wiper? I'm thinking of ditching it, as the spoiler would look tidier without it.

Re: Fitting GSA rear spoiler
by the way the section view is not quite correct in terms of the profile of the spoiler. The backend actually comes over the edge of the hatch. Hopefully the other numbers on the manual are correct...

Re: Fitting GSA rear spoiler
As regards the rear wiper, looks like you will have to ditch it as the spoiler prevents its mounting.
GS aerodynamics help keep the rear glass clear - except in traffic of course.

Re: Fitting GSA rear spoiler
The spoiler actually has a provision for wiper motor hole but looks very ugly from what I've seen on the internet photos. Mine is a second hand unit from Chevronics and it came with the hole butchered open. I managed to find a rubber plug to fill that (as well as wiper motor hole on the hatch).
