This post relates to removing the damper pulley which drives the auxillary belt. It is necessary to remove this pulley if you're going to change the cambelt which sits behind it.
Firstly, you need to remove the 22mm bolt and spacer securing the pulley to the crankshaft. Then refit the bolt minus the spacer.
To make up a puller, I used two 8mm bolts and the bracket from an exhaust clamp.
It's best to use two equal length 8mm bolts but these worked for me just the same.
Fit the two bolts through the exhaust clamp bracket into the pulley holes by several turns to ensure a secure fit.
By backing out the pulley bolt which pushes against the clamp bracket, the pulley slowly but surely pulls itself out with ease.

Re: Making a damper pulley puller
Just goes to show, when we work it out the Bloody french REALLY know how to do things!!
Ive always seen those two threaded holes but never sucessfully managed to make a puller out of something!!
Fantastic stuff! Ill not forget this now, certainly now theres a lot less XUDs about.
Anyone noticed the HDi pullt is very slack on the crank once the bolt is undone??

Not as bad as the later one with the 'adjustable' keyway - I fail to see the point in keying it at all in that case!
