Duly sorted out on Sunday, I'd forgotten how fiddly pads are to set up

As his commute to work is 6mi each way, up and down and he starts at midnight we started looking at ebike as he'd been left some money by recently passed MinL... ordered Monday evening 6pm, due for delivery on Wednesday but OH was out back for 5 mins and missed it. Redelivery asked for Thursday and arrived before 9am
Haibike Hardseven 4, Bosch 3, 400w battery, Shimano/Suntour, just fitting up and 2 guards to go on tomorrow

Nice bike but is it hydraulic brakes I couldn't tell from their website, no mention of the weight in specifications either

Front mudguard looks good and as large as the rear is I bet he still gets some spray on his back ....

Rear is a Muddhugger, front a Crud both readily available from most places. Muddhugger was £2 more than Amazon from LBS, they hadn't got one so Amazon for the Crud.

Tektro Hydraulics and weight I think is around 23kgs?
He probably will get spray but it's better than the one on his Carrera

i run mudhuggers on my bikes, they are Brilliant! well worth the money!! thje Large one is a Monster! cut a good 4" off mine on the Pink bike as it was just too long!! think i went a medium on the 29er?? few years back i lead a ride in the area using many bridleways , decent loop on aroun 20 miles, had been wet and muddy for months, when we got back had a picture in the car park , about a dozen of us, all bar one completely Gaggled in mud, one rider had front and rear Mud huggers and looked like he had Just turned up! 3 or us straight away ordered them for our own bikes!!
was down at Penwith college week before last doing a Dr Bike session with Sustrans, had an Ebike demo in the afternoon with a council lead initiative loaning ebikes to those who want to try them for commuting over a 6-8wk period without having to buy first, Great scheme, had 10 or so bikes there of all types, was a quiet day on Dr Bike so we spent most of the afternoon riding about the campus! last half hour, the 4 of us there (2 from sustrans and 2 from the council) had an Ebike 'Turbo' Grand prix around the main building! rediculously funny!! the number of staff that came and tried them did a couple of loops, first in std mode or mode 2, get a good feel for a Normal ride, then the same in Maximum mode, the faces on the return of the trubo loop where like children in a sweetshop for the first time with free reign! a lot of them lived above Newlyn, there is an infamous hill there that puts them all off riding, but after trying thr bikes around the site, they were convinced its easily doable! even the receptionist that hadnt ridden a bike in over 20 years was amazed how much fun the little folding bike was! Really great to see people taking it back up !

Its been acting as an obstruction and something for draping stuff over for a while now, but decided to take it out for a walk/cycle today. Pumped the tyres up and off we went. Me, I am a pleasure cyclist when I fancy it, am no masochist, and don't mind getting off and walking along with it. You can see its not built for cross-country so when I hit the green lanes/rough tracks I just wheel it along and enjoy the walk.

They didn't get forty shillings out of me!

Nearly a repair fail yesterday! One of my son's friends had gone over the bars of his (new!) MTB and ripped the front brake hose off. New one on me, not had to do a hose before, but dived in any way. All going OK till I got to the caliper bleed screw....T15, and the short end of my key is mangled (I think from the overtight bolts on the fuel filter on my 3008...). Use the long end, nope. Add a spanner extender, nope, impossibly tight. Find a T15 bit in the tool box, add short ratchet, snap the bit in half. Hmm. Remove caliper again and get it in the vice, apply some heat from hot air gun, nope. Apply more heat whilst swinging on the spanner, sudden loud crack. Fortunately it was the screw coming loose rather than stripping out. Unfortunately it made a hole in my finger and I then proceeded to bleed everywhere!

Still, we have brakes again. All good fun!! Thought we were going to be in for a new caliper for a while. Must get a new T15 bit...

That's crazy tight on a new bike ....it puts me off going for hydraulic brakes on my next bike - for what I need them to do
