Both equally I'd say I'm very well known as CitroJim as it often appears on my running bibs and I have it embroidered on a good few of my running and cycling garments, including hoodies...

CitroJim really has become my other name, my non de plume and pseudonym

And whenever I need a nickname, that's it!

looks like it may be useful if the weather continues how it has been here!!

Mostly, it was a lovely warm and sunny day up here yesterday but the wind was both cold and blowy at times, just to let us all know that winter awaits in the wings to pounce upon us very soon...

Whilst I hate riding in the rain, I'm OK in the cold but I'm just the opposite to you, I don't get cold feet but I do suffer cold fingers

I wonder if my feet keep nice and warm due to all the running I do? I have excellent circulation right down to my toes

even during the warmer months the feet get tingly Jim, always have done on the bike for some reason, yet my hands are often the exact opposite! often take a second pair of gloves with me to swap them over in winter!!
i am fine with it Starting to rain whilst i am Out, But, Finding the enthusiasm to go out When it is raining is an entirely different matter!
nice mix of bikes in through the shed this week, lots of broken gear cables!

Several years ago I bought my Mum (as her Christmas present) two pairs of electrically heated gloves that had elements all the way down to the fingertips. They were about £30 each. There are socks that are also heated, down to the toes, which might be worth looking for.

i'm always concerned about the amout of moisture around my feet in winter, knowing my luck, i'd manage to short them and electrify myself!

You may well get them wet and wreck them but if you can electrocute yourself with 5-6V then you're not going to survive the 21st Century tech anyway!!

Eric, that's very true... They keep each other warm!

Trouble with mittens whilst riding a bike such as mine is to maintain enough dexterity to reliably and safely operate both brakes and gears...

There are some semi-mittens available, called 'Lobsters' that are said to be good and get round the dexterity issue to a certain extent...

I've not tried them yet but plan to in the coming months once I get a sensible recommendation of the best ones to get and my finances can afford them!

Timmo, do you wear thermal overshoes when cycling in the cold and wet?

If your pockets are deep enough thermal cycling shoes are available...

Mums' gloves use three AA batteries each. IIRC the socks used two C (or D) batteries.
