Indeed, would have been good to see them when they were supposed to be flowering though.

Today I visited Radstock, the epicentre of the old Somerset cal mining industry...

There's a few items to mark this heritage in the town..

Up early (ok, not "Jim early" !! :rofl2: ) for an airport run taking my sister and my 18 month old cousin to Manchester.

A nippy -3°C at 05:15, it's now warmed up to...

... -2°C!

Have an icy Lion

I was out running at 'Jim early' Matt! Gosh, it was cold. The two thermometers I carry on the ends of my arms made that very clear, even through gloves

No photos as it was dark...

I'm waiting for it to thaw before going out to do some pre-MoT checks on Strawberry...

No feeling in my fingers at all after 8 miles Matt! It makes simple tasks like unlocking your front door a real challenge!

Strawberry looks all fine and good and an MoT is booked for her next Wednesday... More in my blog later ;)

Today I have mostly been cutting up trees :-D

Sawdust in the immediate foreground is from the first Ash tree already processed, the second one is midway through clearing. After that I had a Willow to deal with. Kept me warm today :)

Will the remains of those trees continue to do so? I see a good amount of winter fuel for a nice wood-burner there ;)

Too much of a PITA to extract the timber from there I'm afraid, and we're not short of logs for firewood so they can stay in the hedgerow and my back can stay working as a result

I went for a long run with a good friend (also called Jim) this morning in the bright sunshine of a gorgeous crisp winter morning around an area of Milton Keynes I'm not too familiar with.

It's a newer part of the City tight up against the M1 between Junctions 13 and 14. To shield the residential areas from the motorway a massive embankment has been built. It's around 20 feet high and over three miles in length. It's been landscaped and has a tarmac path running along the entire top of it from end to end... It's been made into a thing of beauty :D

Those motorway signs are absolutely enormous when you get up close to them!
