Bonus points if you can identify the town in the background. A free clue to make it easier - it's on the coast

No idea if it's actually called Spot, but it seemed like a good enough name to give it![]()

To follow on from spot the dolphin, the Newbiggin Dolphin Watch Group in monitoring dolphins on the NE Coast report regular spottings of "Runny Paint"...as this dolphin of around 40 years old has become known as.

A few from the other day on the PS Waverley
A floating gin palace floating by.
Another floating gin palace floating by.
It's a lot less bovver with a hover.
I think the captain (or may have been purser) of the Waverley was quite pleased with the day - along with spotting a decent sized pod of dolphins and a close fly by of the hovercraft (old meets new ?), and a fly-by of a biplane along with dipping its wings, he also received an unprompted welcoming blast on the horn from both the aircraft carrier and the P&O flagship, to which he obviously responded with a retort from the Waverley's steam horn

Re: Picture(s) of the day....
I took this photo on top of the Frauenkirche in Dresden, Germany on Tuesday afternoon. The bridge in the foreground, the part with the tram on, collapsed 11 hours later. Luckily it happened in the middle of the night so no one was injured. I had planned to drive over it that morning but of course the whole area was closed so had to take a different route down to Saxon Switzerland.

^^^^^^
I've just been reading up on that bridge collapse - it seems a bit unfortunate for a bridge that was regularly inspected and maintained........

Re: Picture(s) of the day....
This was last Wednesday in Bad Schandau on the Elbe in Saxony Germany. It's very close to the Czech border and within the Saxon Switzerland national park. Lilienstein is visable and reminds me of Richard Dreyfuss sculpturing similar out of mashed potato in Close Encounters! That's my C2's arse sticking out. It was there for 6-7 hours while we took a trip up the Elbe on a paddle steamer boat.
The weather had taken a turn for the worst after the boat trip but it was nice to see that someone had parked their C3 next to the C2!

Re: Picture(s) of the day....
Inspiring Jim, the evidence for that is todays "Word/Phrase of the Day" effectively from 1819 before photography was invented and the poetic writers conjured up images from words alone.
In 2024 virtually everybody has a photographic device and so adding images to the 2024 Autumn seasonal collection on POTD is so simple that it should produce a bounteous harvest.
Just relies on members being bothered to join in, there's the rub!

Re: Picture(s) of the day....
Back to frosts occurring on both sides of the world this week.
Jim showed us a "grass frost" - mine was more of a "605 frost". Took the dog for a walk, and got more than I bargained for. Dog started chasing a young roo, which shot past me at about 30 km/hr! The roo was far more scared of the dog than me - would have knocked me over if I hadn't got out of the way!
Peace and tranquilty restored after the dog gave up the chase.
