Re: I-Spy Classic Cars-What have you spotted?
Just had a look at that Cafe's facebook page, their stuff looks great and I notice that they are hiring...looking for a cake maker and front of house staff. I love the front of house staff advert they need
"A Fast Super-Switched on Multitasker"
Cant remember the last time I saw one of those! Certainly not me!

Re: I-Spy Classic Cars-What have you spotted?
I saw a vehicle in Benson this morning that (as far as I know) used to be owned by Max Rockatansky. Specifically the car he drove in the second of the Mad Max films.

Ford Consul Classic
and the last car to be designed under the British Motor Corporation, and the last by Alex Iggisonis although this example is well into the BL days and the badge is simply "Maxi"

I love the Maxi... Don't know why but I do... It had the makings of a world-beater but as usual BL shot themselves in the foot whilst snatching defeat from the jaws of victory
The old Ford Classic certainly is a classic these days but I much prefer the Capri version of it... I've never been much taken by the reverse-rake rear window on the Classic and Anglia. Not keen on it on the Ami saloon either to be honest...

One of my farmer customers was a keen Maxi owner, had to keep finding him a new one for long after they stopped producing them, all sorts of farm produce fitted nicely in the back.
Man is, by nature, a lazy beast, he does not need twice encouraging to do nothing.

Re: I-Spy Classic Cars-What have you spotted?
That slopey rear window wasn't good on the Mercury that started it all (at least for FoMoCo) either - but it did retract!
So my neighbour who brought a goat home in his Maxi wasn't alone then!? If a farmer had designed a gear change it'd been the original Maxi -must be the attraction!
Arguably more attractive (blander?) than the R16 which was everything the Maxi wanted to be. The "wedge" would've stood a better chance - but they forgot it was supposed to be a hatchback.
