Upgrading radio unit what funcions are lost ?

Hi, so I thought of upgrading the radio but read on the forum that you can loose some steering wheel functions, is it just radio lever functions or cruise control / display lever where you can check mpg economy too ?

The RD45 is not just a radio, it will provide access to some of the vehicle options. If you replace this unit with an aftermarket unit you will lose access to the options menu, possibly reversing sensor display and the trip computer and displays.

Would reverse still beap or would it complete stop working? as there is no display for me just sound warning when getting close to something behind, how about cruise control ? I can live without trip computer or radio button lever.

Cruise control should not be affected. Only volume controls on the steering wheel unless you can get a compatible harness depending on what you are intending to install.

The beep sound is via the speaker in the steering wheel module, but can’t say what impact this will have, you may be ok with parking assistance.

Just some standard, sony or pioneer radio something like that. Ill try to dig into this a bit more see if there are any more compatible modules..
speaking if RD45 if I disconnected it and reconnect it will it ask me to code it ? if so how can i find out what the code is ?

There is no code on these. The unit is however VIN-coded to the vehicle, so will only work properly in the same vehicle with the same VIN, so no issues about removal and refitting.
