It is certainly not unusual for turbos to whistle a bit. It is a sign of a minor air leak, usually on the exhaust side of the turbo. Just check all the bolts are tight and then try it. :)

I know this is a year late but I thought I would mention the door click I think is a safety thing, if the car detects a fault with the SRS it automatically unlocks the doors, if you lock the doors and turn the ignition on wait for the SRS light to go out and then come back on it will unlock the doors.

The engine misfires quite noticeably at idle, but once I'm driving, the misfire becomes much less noticeable or sometimes disappears completely.

If the serial label is completely unreadable, your best free option is to check My Renault using your VIN, as some owners can find the radio code there. If that doesn't work, then unfortunately you'll usually need either a Renault dealer or an online decoding service.

Hi , pump packed up, got a 2nd hand one but cogwheel was removed. Anybody know how to refit in correct position? Theres a slot in the spindle but no woodruff key in the wheel! ( on either the old or new pump!) There are some dots stamped on one of the wheel spokes. Do i line them up with the slot on the spindle perhaps? HELP!

Hi everyone,

I have a 2009 Peugeot 5008 and recently had some repairs done at a shop. While looking under the hood, I noticed the rubber cowl drain tube (the duckbill on the driver/passenger side) is pointing directly at an electrical connector and some exposed wiring.
I've attached a picture so you can see what I mean....

I would think that any form of drain pipe should be routed so as to spill its drainage straight onto the ground. I'd suggest you go back to the chaps who did the work and ask them about it. :)

The boot on my Wind will not open when release button pressed. I have read that this is due to water affecting the micro switch. Can this be cured or does it need changing? Car normally garaged but has spent wet week outside.

The first thing I'd do is to spray the switch are with a water repellant spray, allow it to dry and then try again. If you are lucky you may get a result and then you need to protect the switch with a waterproofing spray. If it doesn't work and you are happy with the wiring to the switch then yes it may need replacing. :)

I'm trying to change the alternator belt on my car, a Scenic MK2 1.5 diesel. I managed to get the belt off fine, but I can't for the life of me get the new one on as the lug you have to turn to unload the tensioner keeps snapping! I've watched videos on YouTube and it appears you have to turn the tensioner until it's almost touching the crankshaft...

A bit of help needed.

Today I took the engine cover off my 2018 Traffic 1.6 to clean the electrical connections for the injectors. I disconnected the vacuum pipe that enters via the cover (see photos!) and I think I've knocked something off. The pipe enters via the hole at the back of the engine cover in the image.

hesitation when engine cold.

hi all
I have a hesatation when my engine is cold.
the short term fuel trim is -100. all the time.
I have changed the plugs leads and coil pack and pre 02 sensor.
the b1-s2 voltage is up and down 0.100v to 0.400v.
so could this be post cat 02 sensor or injectors that is coursing the issue.
I have no fault codes.
2011 1.2 16v clio. 99000...

I removed the knock sensor plug to check for voltage and there is no voltage.

I had a quick look inside the lock and it looked like it was bonded into the actuating arm but I've since seen the cable offered as a separate item. I have a 2005 Clio Mk2 1.4 16V with the DPO/AL4 auto box and, surprise, it has issues. Once warmed up it goes into limp mode, or rather it has no forward drive at all.

Just realised, it was Westway LT71141 oil I used, not Granville. I decided not to use the latter because although it claimed LT71141 compatibility it also claimed Dexron III-H compatibility and the two are not the same. I found a Range-Rover forum thread which has a quote directly from ZF explaining exactly why Dexron III-H is not equivalent.

Clio Rip Curl 2007 - Battery size?

Hi all.

I bought a lovely Clio Rip Curl 1.2 (1149cc) recently for my kids to learn to drive in. It's 2007 but less than 60k miles and has been very well looked after, the interior is almost mint.

Anyway, it had stood for about 3 years without use and the battery was done for. So they swapped it to try to get it going, and I don't think it was...

I would suggest that the 23mA the dash was drawing would be the normal I'd expect for the clock and radio memory. It is the 45mA still draining that I would suggest is the fault!! :)

Well, the plot thickens... or rather, it thins.

It seems that if I leave the car for way longer, 20+ minutes maybe even 30, it goes into deep sleep, and registers...

Master II 3.0: Upper Control Arm Front Bushings Sitting High — Normal?

While investigating a shake that sometimes occurs in our Renault Master II 3.0 dCi 140 when lifting the clutch from a standstill or at low speed, we noticed that the front bushings on both upper control arms sit about 5?mm above their housings. (The clutch has already been replaced.)

Clio 3 left hand side light not working. No voltage to plug

Hi all,

Back with a new issue with the Clio..

This time the sidelight bulb is not working on left hand side. The bulb was blown so I replaced the bulb but this didn't solve the issue.

Checked for voltage across the plug and there is none. There is continuity to earth on one side.

Checked fuse F6 and it's ok and has continuity. I will change...

Megane 3 idle vibrations..

Hello everyone i have megane 3 2010 1.5 dci 81kw grandtour,and I have problems with vibrations inside cabin only on idle,replaced mount bellow engine,replaced up right mount and still vibrate..Vibrations can feel on pedals,steering wheel,and seat.Cluch pressed or not it is same.Only left is mount that hold gearbox,dont know if replacing will solve...

I don't know anything about the Renault engines, does the engine have an upper stabiliser bar? If so check the bushes that it is mounted in and check the gearbox mountings if you have already replaced the engine mountings. :)

2009 Clio DCI battery drain. Noise from engine bay

Hi everyone,

I'm hoping for a bit of help with an overnight battery drain on my Clio that it's just started doing.

There is a high pitch noise coming from what I believe to be the fuel injector pump ran off the timing belt. This noise stops when I disconnect the brown plug on it (fuel solenoid?)

Just to add to this for anyone reading in the future...

I actually just switched the engine control relay with the starter motor relay and it seems to have solved the problem without replacing the whole fuse box (I didn't expect the relays to come out but they did with some gentle persuasion!)

Renault Captur fault code 156013

Hi,

I am getting an intermittent dashboard warning 'Engine Failure Hazard' and the stop light. Car drives well. According to TOPDON diagnostics, the error code is 156013 (Oil pump solenoid valve Open circuit). Is the fault likely to be the valve or the sensor?. What's the recommended action.

Socket size E13 or E16

Can anybody help please I have to replace a bottom control arm on a Renault Clio mk4 2018 and I need the socket size for the bolt on the inner bush the I have read conflicting info some say it's an E13 socket and some say it's a E16 socket I am thinking it's going to be E16 as I can't find an E 13 socket

No I don't have a set of E sockets just normal ones but the sets of E sockets I have seen don't have a E13 socket in them is there even such a thing as a E13 socket?

I am disabled & have to carry 2 mobility scooters in car. I had a Citroen C4 Picasso, which had a huge boot & managed to accommodate them.
However, at 87, I found it a struggle to load/ unload them.

Brake problems

Hello I have a renault clio mk2 09 reg and I replaced the rear wheel cylinder on one side and the shoes on both back , and the pads on the front , I have a problem where the brakes stay on after using and go on tighter and tighter I have bleeded the system and greased the caliper pins but potentially the piston its self is stuck and comes back out...

Initial thought is a fault in the master cylinder not allowing the pressure to release in the brake lines when you release the pedal! :)
