Sorry to bump up this old thread, wondering if anyone could tell me how to get the car started if I can't remember the password...

Is this the common problem where the diodes fail?
Which can be fixed 'properly' by dismantling the valves and replacing internal components, or 'quicker' by slaving in one of these?

From what I've found online nitrile rubber is tubing is what im looking for as it's resistant to mineral based oils.

Indeed, nitrile should be fine but for peace of mind do test it...

All Citroen spheres (except multicouche spheres manufactured after 1997) have a limited life. Depending on service conditions and quality, the useful life of a sphere is usually 5 to 12 years, so it is likely that your car needs a complete new set of spheres, regardless of the specification of the spheres currently fitted.

As for the steering, the V6 has a separate pressure regulator mounted low down on the LH (your driver's side) chassis rail near the pressure regulator. This is unique to the V6 and the pump, unlike every other Xantia, does not have the pressure regulator built into it.

I took the brave pill and bought this one! 🙈

Paid the princely sum of €700 for it (£580). It needs a lot of love but I drove it home from where I collected it, 170km away (over 100 miles) with just the 2 LHM topups 🙃

It is the last one in Ireland (Rep Of Ireland), so had to save it from extinction.

That's my stragegy with our XM and BX, the latter now being the daily — yes, really.
The XM would cope standing on its head with local stuff, but I'd rather let her do the longer journeys (as well as the inter-galactic trips) which she's eminently suited for, so she gets used every couple of weeks or so.

No i do not have one but i think we have all got so used to looking online we may have forgotten about our local (ish) non multi nationals that can and will repair such things, it just takes a little bit of digging and research.:)

Thanks for the advice guys, I passed on the tip about corrosion to the mechanic and after some research ive ordered a set of Goodyear Efficientgrip Performance 2 to go on the car.

It would appear that unless I come up with a part the the garage can do no more , I may take better pic . but it is such an awkward place , even when ramped up .

It is recommended that you also delete the leak back line switching to a 3way joiner above the subframe (good luck getting into that :)
....Thomas (ACTIVA Club) has done it 60k km ago and it is still dry.

The only xantia I would buy now would be a v6 auto. However there would be little point while I have the 407 coupe behaving itself. Its a great car for me being comfy and having the v6 hdi auto. It hardly gets used, it has only do e 750 miles in over 3 months since its been sorted. It fulfills the comfy cruiser for me, and its not even too heavy...

Good news.

Someone will send me a doser next week. He says it's in good condition. Will test it with a pressure gauge before fitting it, because it's a lot of work. My concern is that if the doser replacement doesn't improve the stability, I'm out of ideas on what to test, because the rams are in top notch condition, electrovalves are working as they should,...

It seems that the electrovalve was faulty. We changed it, we cleaned the height corrector and now everything is how it should be. Works like a charm :)

That would probably be a lot better, though it would obviously depend on the condition of that v6 Activa. The thing is I can't keep two Activas on the road (because of road tax and insurance), and I can't sell this one either. I got this one from my grandparents, sort of for my 18th birthday, under the condition that I wouldn't sell it or do away...

Back on topic, and thanks - I never fill up to max anyway (too cheap, and always looking for cheaper fuel on a journey)...the needle seem to be on the right level now, have only done about 30 miles, so it's possible that the needle has not moved (no experience of this car in particular, but older cars I have, their needles don't move at the...

Thanks both - I was quoted some very cheap prices for the Volvo's (very easy to change apparently), I will give the garage a call. Surely anyone who worked on XU's would be able to do them quite quickly considering what a common engine it is...I went through a phrase of getting only chain cam engined cars, but for some reason now all my cars...

I'd be near certain, assuming that the Suspension set up is similar that its a dry bush on the rear of the OSF Wishbone, located in the case of daughter's 106D pretty much directly below the Pedal-Box.

I lubricated it with WD40 or similar once and the noise went away for a couple of days, but was soon back. I also sourced a complete s/h...
