Evening all,

Recently the rear suspension is dropping at a quick rate soon after switch off.

Within seconds it comes down...

Wondering if any idea what could be wrong (and are spheres due to be renewed?)?

There is a small pool of LHM on top of the reservoir which I don't think is connected...

Hello to all .
My 2T activa has a problem with the suspension. I used the lexia and have problem with the suspension setting. Whether I press it or not the electrovalves are in the same position sometimes stuck in firm mode other times stuck in soft mode . Thx anyone who can help . ( I add pics if it helps anyway)

Hi, its New Years Day and after having had an extended (massively) time away from any cars i now feel inspired enough to at least get my garage in order this year. Does anyone know what the size of this hydraulic line is and what type of fitting id need to replace it?

Depending on service conditions and quality, the useful life of a sphere is usually 5 to 12 years, so it is likely that your car needs a complete new set of spheres, regardless of the specification of the spheres currently fitted.

Paid the princely sum of €700 for it (£580). It needs a lot of love but I drove it home from where I collected it, 170km away (over 100 miles) with just the 2 LHM topups 🙃

The XM would cope standing on its head with local stuff, but I'd rather let her do the longer journeys (as well as the inter-galactic trips) which she's eminently suited for, so she gets used every couple of weeks or so.

Having driven the CT for a little while now (been using it the whole weekend, must have done about 150 - 200 miles over a range of roads), I have been very happy with the engine - very little turbo lag and when the turbo comes in at around 3,000 rpm, it becomes quite lively. The only thing that has let it down was the long throw in the gearbox...

The only xantia I would buy now would be a v6 auto. However there would be little point while I have the 407 coupe behaving itself. Its a great car for me being comfy and having the v6 hdi auto. It hardly gets used, it has only do e 750 miles in over 3 months since its been sorted. It fulfills the comfy cruiser for me, and its not even too heavy...

It seems that my newly restored activa has a rolling issue after all.
The weird thing is that about half the time it is behaving like a proper activa.
But is the other half that is worrying me :)

Having had the Activa for a while, I can't help but feel that the spheres are likely to need changing, not least because the ride seems much harsher than the CX and it sinks when parked.

I have called around a few placed, but since it needs 10 spheres (might as well get all of them done at the same time), could anyone recommend good...

After retrofitting my Xantia with a/c last summer, I have now decided I want to build just about the ultimate Xantia (for me at least). One major step in trying to get that is to fit it with a v6 engine rather...

That would probably be a lot better, though it would obviously depend on the condition of that v6 Activa. The thing is I can't keep two Activas on the road (because of road tax and insurance), and I can't sell this one either. I got this one from my grandparents, sort of for my 18th birthday, under the condition that I wouldn't sell it or do away...

Just looking at tilting cars and aparently Mercedes has been offering this on the SL for about 2 years...(it cost much more than my whole Activa!)

Hi All,

Had an issue with the Activa.

Was at the lights and stalled it, tried turning over twice before starting, when it started up, the fuel needle bounced up to above the full mark...

Went home, disconnected the battery (been 24 hours) and plugged it back in just now...

Hi All,

Looking to get the cambelt changed on the Activa soon, as I think although the miles is not loads, the time is about right (more than 4 years?).

Would anyone know what the factory time sheet states for changing this? I have never changed a cambelt before and potentially never will - just not something I am keen on in particular due to...

Thanks both - I was quoted some very cheap prices for the Volvo's (very easy to change apparently), I will give the garage a call. Surely anyone who worked on XU's would be able to do them quite quickly considering what a common engine it is...I went through a phrase of getting only chain cam engined cars, but for some reason now all my cars...

Went to start my Activa and the engine sound a lot rougher than usual but thought will see how it is in a min once its warmed up. Drove off and it had no power, floored in 1st it struggled to get to 20mph, when i pull off it feels like its going to stall. When i looked under the bonnet could see no leaks and coolant and oil were at the right...

I've noticed some differences between my 96 (N) reg Activa and the (P) reg Activa...

1. On the P reg Activa, the passenger side wing mirror dips and angles in automatically when I select reverse. The N reg doesn't. Should it? Or is this something that was added within the first year?

Been thinking my Activa is not level for a bit now so looked on my flatish work carpark . You can see from the picture she is not well, she seems to drop like shown (passenger side drops), then you hear the accumulator sphere go tick tick tick tick then you see the passenger side rise, then it very slowly over the next 45 seconds drops then you...

Not sure if this is a common issue as they age or if its just something wrong with mine but i'm getting creaking noises that sound like its coming from just behind the drivers footwell area, since it was only at low speed i was hearing it, normally when parking up or doing an manoeuvre i thought it was the pedals at first but its not.

I'd be near certain, assuming that the Suspension set up is similar that its a dry bush on the rear of the OSF Wishbone, located in the case of daughter's 106D pretty much directly below the Pedal-Box.

I lubricated it with WD40 or similar once and the noise went away for a couple of days, but was soon back. I also sourced a complete s/h...

Afternoon Folks,

I've just picked up an Activa yesterday.

Its a 1997 Model with 108K on the clock. First impressions are good, the Anti-Roll system works and is very impressive to drive, and its a nice change to be driving a Turbo Petrol Xantia rather than a Turbo Diesel.
