Hi guys. Got my car a major service last week. New filters and oil all round.
Still got a lack of power when accelerating and now getting the above fault code.
Classic example on motorway in 6th gear put foot down and engine light came on anti pollution.
Any ideas where I can look next?

Re: P1166
Here's the description for this code Graham. It will clear after several full load accelerations for 10 seconds each over a 5 minute period as stated. If it doesn't clear, then time to start looking at the possibilities shown.
Obviously, cruise will be disabled and engine power will be limited all the time the fault is showing.

Fault code | P1166 |
After sales description of the fault code | Rail pressure regulation: Supplementary not coded |
Description of the diagnostics | The fuel high pressure common injection rail pressure measured by the engine ECU exceeds the maximum threshold of 1800 bars for 6 s |
Conditions of activation of the diagnostics | Consult the associated contexts for the Pcode forwarding conditions |
Conditions of disappearance of the fault | Driving for 5 minutes with several full load accelerations for 10 seconds |
Down-grade modes if fault present | Deactivation of the speed limiter Deactivation speed limiter until the next time the ignition is switched on Deactivation of the cruise control Deactivation cruise control until the next time the ignition is switched on Request for Delayed Engine Stop The ECU limits the fuel flow |
Switching on of the warning lamp and/or warning message | Warning lamp MIL Warning lamp STOP |
Main customer complaints likely | Engine hesitating, cutting out Lack of power |

Re: P1166
It can be intermittent and that's why they suggest a few heavy accelerations, getting the power on for 5 minutes or so at full load. If it's the rail pressure sensor, these really should be replaced as part of the rail which incorporates the sensor.
I posted about it in your last 'arrrrrrr' post where you were getting the same code. Did you take it in for work then Graham?
