Okay another update but not a good one i fear.
Have taken her out for a spin, no more issues with the revs, she revs happily through all gears and drives okay.
However did another global test when i got home and got the same fault
P0299: Turbo pressure electrovalve control
Characterisation: Flow too low
Status: Permanent
Variables associated with the fault
Engine speed: 2570 rpm
Turbo pressure: 1729 mBar
Turbo pressure reference value: 2200 mBar
Turbo electrovalve open cycle ratio: 49%
Output injected: 44 mg/stroke
I knew it had logged it as i had been using the speed limiter and as soon as that went down i knew it was because of the same fault.
I have yet to change the actuator or the other sensor although i still feel the car is save able i do not have the time or space to keep it.
So i have decided to offer it up for spares/repairs .
Thank you all for your time/effort and help in getting me this far, sorry i could not get it running right

Ah, the turbo ate the sledge hammer so you couldn't use it on the car!

Re: C5 2008 (X7 ?) Turbo Fault
Okay had a chance to have a play with the issues today.
I have tested the actuator in situ, it is reading the correct vacuum when hitting its stop and it is holding its vacuum but i need to get a smaller diam pipe to make sure it is sealing correctly as a couple of times it did appear to loose the vacuum, think washer jet pipe is about the right size.
I have taken the air intake pipe work off including the air filter housing and i have found the location of the vacuum solenoid, however i have no way of changing it without it being up on ramps and i really think that is a big part of the issues with the DPF warning.
I have cleaned out the mass air flow sensor and housing with contact cleaner, it was a bit mucky tbh, now the sensor looks like it has metal parts in it
Did notice on removal that the air filter housing was not seated correctly nor the air intake pipe into the filter housing, that has now been sorted and after refiiting and a BSI reset the car does seem a lot quieter and i can set the speed limiter which is something i could not do before i cleaned the air flow sensor, but guess this maybe down to doing a BSI reset lol
I have yet to tackle the Heater Blower issue but i can hear what i can only describe as a loud chorus of multiple Xantia internal fans which then stops and starts and then stops.
Looking at all the links and posts by you all it seems the Blower module is located on the passenger side of a RHD so will try my best to look into it tomorrow, thank you all for the help.
I am in the process of selling the car, but just want to keep as much info on the issues in the same place rather than create seperate threads so that it is easier to trace things back if people have similar issues. I am trying to get the car as right as i can, not for extra £££ unless i can get it running 100% but because i have it and want to know what is wrong with it and as i hope it goes to a Forum Member the more i can do the better
Whatever happens i need to re-insure the car so that i can test it, give people the chance to drive it and not take my word for how it drives.
Tomorrow i will get some pictures of the location of the sensor i cannot change so people know where it is on their own 1.6 it really is in a horrible location.

Re: C5 2008 (X7 ?) Turbo Fault
It has been a tad wet here today so have yet to investigate more but i have a question for you regarding part # 26 in the previous posts from Marc and my attempts to clean everything up.
The assembly has 2 butterfly valves and part #26 valve has 2 screws that will enable the butterfly to be removed and the main pin/sensor to be removed.
My question is should this butterfly valve be able to move by manual manipulation, it is something that has been bugging me since i cleaned it out.The other valve is moveable and will spring back into place, this one will move and spring back but not all the time and it did take some force to move it unlike the other butterfly valve which had free movement and always returned to its open position.
Just asking as i try to get my head around what the problems are with this car

Re: C5 2008 (X7 ?) Turbo Fault
Mine has 2 butterflies in a slightly different setup, both can move against the spring manually and return on there own. You can test both of them in diagbox actuator tests independently. You will hear them flicking back and forth.
Just re-read the post and must have missed it first time round. You mentioned it 'kangarood' once, that's what mine did when it tried to regen due to one butterfly not opening when the other closed. Although mine was due to a vacuum pipe leak, the result is the same if the butterfly is sticking. Is it the normally closed or normally open one that is sticky?

Re: C5 2008 (X7 ?) Turbo Fault
Thanks Pete i need to get a picture up of them both, one is a flat disc, the other has curves on it if that makes sense?
The flat disc is the one that when removal of the Air Doser is in the closed position and did not return to its closed position when moved by hand/screwdriver. after lots of contact cleaner and prodding it did return to closed position but not the way the other one did, a quick prod on it and it returned to open position everytime

Re: C5 2008 (X7 ?) Turbo Fault
So that should open when the other one closes, if it sticks open moving it by hand then it possibly sticks shut when the vacuum pipe is trying to open it. An actuator test will confirm it's movement.

Re: C5 2008 (X7 ?) Turbo Fault
Pete these are the pictures of the Air Doser butterfly valve that i think is giving me trouble, it doesn't always spring back when manually moved
This is the one that does spring back to open every time
You can see that i have cleaned them both inc sensors -

Re: C5 2008 (X7 ?) Turbo Fault
Not sure if this 100% the correct replacement part but it looks a damn sight worse than mine did before i cleaned it out
Here
But this one is the same and maybe a better bet

Re: C5 2008 (X7 ?) Turbo Fault
It is the same principle as mine, but a completely different set up. Mike would probably be a better call for advice as he has the same engine. Also if you remove the butterfly from the sticky doser, it won't change anything in the negative, but it will tell you if it's the problem.
Have you tested it on the actuator test?

Re: C5 2008 (X7 ?) Turbo Fault
Not yet but i will be trying another test drive soon.
Question though, if i remove the whole thing, keep sensors plugged in i should be able to see if anything moves in an actuator test ?
Not sure if that makes sense
