My light has come on and stays on. Is it a bag change or is there any components that can be changed b4 doing the bag?

Neil.

Air bag warning light

Unread post by dr.lovexxx »

Hi,
If the warning light comes on and stays on it could be as simple as a bad connection somewhere right up to a fault at a bag or control box. It's something that should be looked at by someone who knows what they are doing. The air bag system is also connected to pretentioners etc. so shouldn't be mucked about with as it is possible to trigger the system if you don't know what you are doing.
The one thing I would say is that I had a loose connection on my passanger air bag that only showed up after a few years. It turned out to be that the lead onto the back of the air bag unit hadn't been clipped in properly at manufacture and it resulted in exactly the same fault as yours.
If you are going to do anything yourself always disconnect the battery from the car before you start. This should stop any accidental triggering of the system.

laguna air bag warning

Unread post by dr.lovexxx »

Hi,
Me again. I just remebered after I posted my last reply that another thing you could get checked is the ribbon connector for the air bag on the steering wheel. This is a common problem with lagunas. The ribbon connector keeps the contact between the air bag and the control system when you are turning the steering wheel. If you start to hear a quiet crunchy, crinkely noise as you turn the steering this could be it. It is quite quiet, so listen carefully. If this goes faulty it brings on the air bag warning light.
