Peugeot Expert 2016 Wheel Knocking

Post by Rowlandbridge »

Wondering if anyone had any ideas on this issue. Will give some background info. Tyre popped after hitting a curb a while ago. Had steering tie arm and tie rod end replaced as it was bent. After this was replaced a knocking/grumbling noise started coming from the front wheels. Had tracking done and also wheel balancing, noise still present. Went back to the mechanic who replaced the arm and rod end, he had a look and couldn’t see anything causing the noise. Noise continued, took to another mechanic who noticed issues with the drive shaft on one side and drive shaft gaiter on the other side. Had both parts replaced but the knocking noise is still there. He said he can’t see anything else that could be causing the noise, nothing broken or loose. It is worse at lower speeds and when going over uneven surfaces. It’s not constant but happening regularly whilst driving. Any ideas what else could be causing this? Thanks in advance

Could be the shock absorber. We had knocking on a C4 which was the result of internal wear allowing the chrome shaft to move slightly sideways. It was hard to detect on the car but once removed the sideways play was obvious and produced the metallic knock.
