You need to use a code reader to see what fault the car thinks it has. Trying to guess and replace parts hoping to get the right one that might be faulty can be expensive and still not fix a fault. When you have the fault code post it on here for some help.

Hi Tony, I have no direct experience of either code but it seems many others have had. If you click on the 'citroen' forum at the top of this page and then put in one of the codes in the search box it will give you a list of all the previous issues with that code. Then do it for the second one. I believe the P1351 is usually to do with poor earthing and relates to the glow plugs and glow plug relay. The other code appears to be a known fault so have a look and I suspect you'll find an answer!! Good luck :)
I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure!
I used to ride on two wheels, but now I need all four!

Fault Code: P1166
Description of Fault: High pressure fuel regulation: Measured rail pressure higher than the maximum pressure. Pressure of the fuel high pressure common injection rail measured higher than the maximum pressure (for 5 seconds).
Conditions for Fault to clear:
  • Driving for 5 minutes
Downgrade Modes whilst Fault is active:
  • Engine stopped
  • Irreversible cutting of the cruise control
  • Deactivation of automatic mode for the electronic parking brake
  • Deactivation of the speed limiter
  • Switching on of the warning lamp and/or warning message: Warning lamp MIL
Symptoms:
  • Lack of power
  • Jerking/stalling
Suspect Areas:
  • Electrical harness
  • Connectors
  • High pressure fuel pump
  • Fuel flow regulator
  • Low pressure fuel circuit
  • Fuel filter
  • Engine ECU
  • High pressure fuel sensor
P1351 is basically the pre-heating relay circuit: Coherence; Relay supplied and glow plugs not supplied. The information from the preheating control unit indicates that the relay is open even though the ECU commands the closing of the relay for 2 seconds. This may be the Pre-heater plug, Electrical harness or Pre/post heating relay.
