You could almost tell that this was a SAAB Owners Club car soon as you clapped eyes on it. Not SAAB's finest styling hour but the epitome of solid and practical and beautifully presented (with the exception of that GB sticker at the back!)

It look like a gull-wing hearse to me.
As I get older I think a lot about the hereafter - I go into a room and then wonder what I'm here after.

'fraid I can't supply an original photo of this somewhat rare car, but it was briefly featured on Harry's Garage Youtube the other day.

".......However, when it comes to the 504 Break Riviera – the handsome three-door sports wagon first seen on the Pininfarina stand at the Paris Salon in 1971 – hard facts are a little thinner on the ground.
The styling house is emphatic that it only built one example, at its own cost, in an attempt to interest Peugeot management in a Scimitar GTE-style ‘sports estate’ variation on the 504 Coupé theme.
Some suggest that three were built; others that there was one working example and a mock-up.
Nobody seems to know for sure where any of them are, though – one account even says that Peugeot has the one-and-only example stashed away in its museum, but I can find no evidence of this.
A recurring theme throughout this mystery is the idea that the one-off – if it is a one-off – is hiding in a private collection in Spain, still in good condition.
This is a reasonably credible notion because the Riviera’s last-known public sighting was at the Barcelona motor show in May 1972.
Peugeot’s thoughts on the Riviera are unknown, although some say it got to the point of having a brochure printed before thinking better of the idea.
Richard Carp – the ‘C’ of HC Classics in Wiltshire – was commissioned by a deep-pocketed private individual (who wishes to remain anonymous) to build an exact replica of the 504 Break Riviera on the basis of a 1972 504 Cabriolet donor."

Indeed, a Vauxhall Victor FB Estate. My father owned its successor, the FC Victor Estate which was known as the 101 Victor. A bench seat and three-speed column gearchange. Mmm, wonderful.

The car was supplied without seat belts and had to have them fitted later. As it had a bench seat the material had to be slashed to feed the lap belt through.

Well presented as ever and a bit of an extra, a decent drive down the road, and a bit of column-changing in this extra vid. Hats off to the local lads...from a bidders/buyers point of view the most thorough presentation job of all the auction houses I have come across.

You get 50 Points for an unusual spot there Jim. This little piece from Curbside Classics features another Mercedes Estate Conversion with this little add on snippet...(your spot is even older at 1963)

According to the most commonly understood history, Mercedes-Benz did not produce an estate car until the 1978 W123, of which the 280TE version remains a personal favourite of mine. Certainly, that’s what I thought. But, then I saw this – a 1966 Mercedes-Benz 230S Universal estate car, based on the W110 Fintail (or Heckflosse) saloon – surely the earliest Mercedes-Benz estate in the UK?
