Hi Jay, did you get any further on the pinion housing or did Hou decide to leave it alone. I have the rack out at the moment so I might try the tap solution. I want to have peace of mind on this

Truthfully, I thought t was a solved problem & people were using Berlingo parts

Are the Berlingo parts the same material as the C5 if they are I would imagine they would just prolong the inevitable failure of them as well

I'll be honest with you Darren, I'm not 100% certain on this, it's not ideal, but it's not like it's sitting submerged in saltwater, like say parts of a boat. I've used cuni onto stainless nipples into aluminium union linking the rear suspension pipes that feeds the rear firmness regulator on our C5, and the union hasn't dissolved into a mess of aluminium oxide talcum powder. However, it is worth noting that I have coated ours in aerosol sprayed on waxoyl to keep the electroyltic salty road spray off of those parts. So; I'm taking an "educated guess" at this, but since I know cuni nipples aren't a thing, I'm guessing you're planning on using another metal for the nipples, as such I reckon you'd be OK, as long as you use steel, possibly better with stainless*, nipples, and lager the assembly with a water repellant such as waxoyl to keep the water off and prevent there being any electrolyte present, and thus prevent the transfer of electrons between cuni pipe and aluminium housing and the ensuing galvanic corrosion arising that you're thinking of. However, I'd advise against using aluminium nipples straight onto the cuni pipe.
*my theory is that stainless won't corrode in the same way that say galvy or BZP steel does, meaning there's less free elections/ions floaing about to wreak havoc with the cupro pipe or ally housing.

Hi Jay , I think you are right the most logical approach to this is to use the best available materials I had considered galvanized fittings but I have had a few experiences with calipers that were just rotted together with galvanized fittings.
My concern is the pinion housing is aluminium so a small risk of galvanic corrosion with the cuni. I think stainless will be fine if I PTFE the thread to create a barrier between it and the housing. Once this rack is in I want to be able to forget about it.
