C4 B7 Semi-Automatic Gearbox Oil Specifications

Post by pablo95 »

Hello everyone, im about to change the gearbox oil on my 2014 C4 1.6 e-hdi 115 (9HD) semi-automatic (BVMP? or EGS6? still dont know the difference) 8-[

After some research i found 2 different opinions:
1) Citroen suggests TOTAL 75w80 ?
2) Some owners suggest 75w !

The second is fully synthetic, the first one, not. Whats the correct oil for my gearbox?
I live in Greece so the car is driven on mostly hot climate.

VIN is VF7**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff]

Your RPO code is 13813 (3 September 2014) so choices are:

MOBIL GEAR OIL FE 75W (Between the 01/01/2012 and 31/05/2015 or between the RPO numbers 12837 and 14083)
or
TOTAL TRANSMISSION HBVFE2 75W From RPO number 12837 (1 January 2012)

Hey

Did you manage to change the oil successfully?
I have the same Semi Automatic car and I am looking through the Citroen Manual on how to do this and all I can see is

Oil capacity gearbox empty : 1,9 ± 0,15 litres.
Oil quality : ESSO 75W80 EZL 848 or TOTAL 75W80 H 6965.
Check the oil level : No check of oil level (*).
Lubrication interval : Lubricated for life.

There is no check of oil and it says Lubricated for life (which I dont trust anyway).

Also, I am wondering if this is the BE4R Gearbox from the Citroen Documentation?

How did you manage to drain and refill it? You have any pointers I would appreciate that.

Look, it's the same as a manual gearbox - so if you ware wanting to change the gearbox oil (not the hydraulic actuator oil) then treat it the same as a manual gearbox. It's not in the manual because it is not a service operation. You'll need to measure the amount drained and refill with the same quantity, or drain the lot out and refill. To ascertain the quantity for a drain and refill, it will depend on the type of manual gearbox you have.

Please post your VIN in full without spaces - it will be automatically masked from public view after submitting your post & will only be visible to staff and I'll be able to advise.

You have an MC gearbox type, so according to my info it should be:

Quantity of oil to fill after draining: 2,1 ± 0,1 litres.
Quantity of oil to fill after an overhaul: 2,2 ± 0,1 litres.

Oil quality: 75W80.

I don't think you have the correct gearbox in your post above...
