Minor trivia trail...

With quiz night favourites Mastermind/Only Connect/University Challenge all having had their finals, "Your home made perfect" made it to the Falcon TV viewing. Featured a house in Enfield and I was asked the question "Where's Enfield :?:"

The imprecise answer I gave "London just below Hertfordshire" didn't satisfy me so off to wiki to look it up to be a little more precise.

Got this
Enfield is a place name that refers to several locations. Enfield is an outer borough of London, England, on the northern perimeter of the metropolis. It is in the historic county of Middlesex. Enfield is also a town in Hartford County, located in north-central Connecticut and borders on Massachusetts, which named and incorporated the town in 1683
The bit highlighted had me thinking there had to be a connection between Hertford and Hartford County.

..and here it is. Who's this then? grade easy for Hertford residents :-D

As you suggest Neil too easy for me, I could give the who, where and a picture of me with it but I'll leave it for other curious members to dig out the answer! :-D

A small bit of trivia on the Belgian Antarctic Expedition in 1966, and a logo and flag designed by Herge...who I presume needs no introduction to the FCF faithful...

Lawn Rollers.

The Marlborough, photographed only yesterday by yours truly. Yes this is the only photograph, and only snippet of information on the entire world wide web of The Marlborough Vintage Lawn Roller.

There is a similarly named "The Balmoral" emblazoned however with the makers name "Lewis and Grundy Nottingham" . Lewis and Grundy still have a little gem of streetscape furniture in Nottingham, which not many visitors to Nottingham will notice. One to store in the subconscious should you ever find yourself at a loose end in Nottingham. :-D

In summary here is a pictorial representation of the Trivia Investigation Thread's delve into the world of Lawn Rollers.

Here's mine a nondescript item, the instructions said 'fill it with water or sand', it now too damned heavy to push and has very little impression on my bumpy lawns. :(

Excellent bobins but wIth the equipment I have at the moment, haven’t been able to decipher the words on old rusty. Not that clever on a borrowed I pad so it may have to wait until I am back at the ranch :)

I'll get a picture of my stone / flat bar and bits of gas pipe lawn roller to join the club - likely Saturday morning at the earliest.

Brilliant! That was an intriguing puzzle which very surprisingly had some of the younger Faclons intrigued enough to to have a go themselves with a bit of "phone" image manipulation.

I can also confirm that internet searching and that, did not produce an answer and like my picture of "The Marlborough" yours of "The Success" are the only ones of those particular lawn rollers on the entire world wide web.

Now with the address and the name, let the trivia trail continue...

I would like an 'earth auger'.
Not sure what I would do with it but I can foresee the village population thinking that moles were invading.

Not here you wouldn't our soil is about 50% stones. Takes an age to put a post in, you have to use one of those grab things which removes about a cupful of soil at a time
