Guys,
Can anyone tell me to save me wasting my time stripping out a later S1 window regulator system, whether the part numbers are identical for this window regulator complete between this VIN ending 008E6285 (a late X1 and VF7**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff]?
I imagine it's a mare of a job and one I will relish...

That's a very good question!
It's the offside.
What is anti-pinch? Got me thinking there. Ahhh! The glass on my early Series 1 gets pinched by rubber either side whereas it does not on the X2.
I can make that basic check easily enough if that is what 'anti-pinch' means with the late S1 door.
EDIT:
There is a little rubber strip at the top of the glass on both my X1's. I'll need to go to my Mum's and have a look at the X2.

Anti Pinch is where, if the system encounters too much resistance, the window retreats a bit.
Which door? Some Xantias have electric windows all round, and others have them just on the front, and they are likely to be different between front and rear.

We'll get there. I guess your crystal ball has gone in for service...
Offside front.
No idea whether they're anti-pinch or not.

The reason I ask is that the motor has a very different connector depending on if it is anti pinch or not. The normal motor has something like four pins, while the anti pinch is nearer ten pins. Drivers door will have a good chance of anti pinch.
I don't know if the S1 regulator can fit the S2.

Donor | Your MK II |
Part number for the Left regulator is 9221F8 on both vehicles.
Part for the Right MK II regulator is: 9222E0 and for the MK I is part: 9222F6
You have driver's front sequential window operation on your MK II.

Brilliant Marc. Very useful.
I can see that the clip has broken so I will be able to get a replacement on Ebay. However, I see Citroen list them as Part 7?
You know when Citroen do this with part numbers ie 9222E0 and 9222F6 does it mean they are just an revised superceded design do you happen to know?
The guide wire on the motor has come off and is now kinked. Are the motors the same? I think I'll have to have a tinker. Dreading having to mess with it but it needs doing. Unless I weld it shut...

As far as part numbers go - the difference is usually design, function and compatibility for a specific build / year / model / option.
- Replacement (superseded) part numbers on the same vehicle are generally improvements / design changes over early versions of a part to compensate for problems.
- With different vehicles and facelfifted models where the original part numbers were always different, it is usually because of the design / application / option for the specific model in question.

Re: And onto the next job! Window regulator Xantia X1 to X2
Mine started making a graunching noise on a trip abroad, motor still running, so I had the door card off and just pushed the glass up and taped it.
I bought a spare cable from eBay, hesitated a while, then asked a Citroen specialist to take a look while they were doing another job. He politely declined, saying they'd spent 3 or 4 hours on one, and it still didn't work properly.
So it's been just waterproof clear tape ever since. Quite useful when the car chose the most inconvenient place to lock itself with the key inside - front of a ferry, with a trailer on the back, on arrival at Dover. A staff member lent me a prybar and I was in in about a minute and half.
So good luck.

Re: And onto the next job! Window regulator Xantia X1 to X2
When I put a Mk2 rear door on a late mk1 Xantia, I cam to the conclusion that the entire mechanism and (I think) glass were different and needed to be swapped from one door shell to the other. The change in design of the clip holding the glass to the mechanism is the key.

What does sequential operation actually do?GiveMeABreak wrote: ↑01 Sep 2020, 11:35
Part number for the Left regulator is 9221F8 on both vehicles.
Part for the Right MK II regulator is: 9222E0 and for the MK I is part: 9222F6
You have driver's front sequential window operation on your MK II.
Also, would you mind checking to see if a Peugeot driver's door regulator is compatible please?
The VIN for that vehicle in a local scrapyard is:- VF3**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff]
I've already started pilfering parts from it!

Re: And onto the next job! Window regulator Xantia X1 to X2
No - completely different part numbers Roger.
The sequential operation is just like the one-touch operation - you can manually open or close the window using the first click or if pressing to the second click it will automatically raise or lower the window completely.

Looks like I'll have to buy a complete repair kit. Might even try and get a stainless cable of the right gauge made up somewhere.
