Hi
I have a 11 reg Peugeot 207 1.4 Diesel which has 98000 miles on the clock. Recently after filling up, the 'Fuel additive level too low' error appeared.
My question is - Is this something only Peugeot garages can change and reset the ECU or do you know if any other garages are able to do it?
My local Peugeot garage has quoted £250-£300 to refill it and reset the ECU - is that a reasonable price?
Thank you
Simon

Re: Fuel additive level too low error
The expensive element is the additive itself Simon. It is important that you get the correct one for the vehicle. You will need Diagbox (the PSA diagnostic kit and software) to reset the additive counter. You can obtain the filling kits yourself - post up your VIN and I can advise on the correct one. But you will need to reset it. There are members here that have Diagbox who offer their services.

Re: Fuel additive level too low error
Hi Simon, ok, so your build date is 12530.
This means your vehicle should be using EOLYS Powerflex additive. Your additive tank should have a Blue cap / click fit connectors for clarification.
Walker supply this fluid product code 80620 which is a 3L kit.

Re: Fuel additive level too low error
Ok thank you. Where is the tank? Is it under the car in front of the fuel tank? Do I have to jack up the car to fill it?
Also if I bought this: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Lexia-3-PP20 ... 2329564389
would I be able to use it to reset the ECU?
Thank you

Re: Fuel additive level too low error
I wish you'd posted about that Lexia kit you bought - that one won't be a full-chip kit and therefore will have some issues with full-CAN architecture cars like the C5 and 308 and I suspect the C4 GP. If you can send it back and get a refund (you don't have to give a reason under consumer contract regulations) - you have 14 days to notify them and 14 to return.
Yes you will be able to reset the additive ECU with a Lexia, but I would get that one returned if I were you.

Don't think he's bought it yet Marc.

I haven't bought it yet. Just looking. Is there a particular one you recommend?
Also is it easy to fill the tank?

Re: Fuel additive level too low error
Ok, so I've just rechecked everything for you and your 207 actually uses the flexible pouches and NOT a tank itself. The flexible pouch is contained in a rigid casing. Extreme caution is recommend when removing and fitting these pouches, as you a) don't want to get any of the liquid on your skin, nor split the new pouch on insertion.
So the good thing with a pouch is you don't need the hassle of filling it through a gravity drip.
The part number from Peugeot for the 3L pouch is 9678033680. They charge £182.38 for the pouch inc. VAT, so not much difference in it.
Now to be honest, there are genuine Citroen / Peugeot pouches on ebay - one new one here for about £163...
https://www.ebay.co.uk/p/Genuine-CITROE ... 426&chn=ps
...which would save a few quid - but be cautious of buying some that have been recovered from a salvaged vehicle! - If they say "used", ignore them. You don't know how much is left in the pouch and of course that can cause the ECU to think there is more in the tank than there actually is, as it is expecting 3L to be replaced.
Here's the procedure

Here's the procedure
- Where protective gloves.
- You will need to raise the rear left of the vehicle too gain access.
Be wary of fluid running back from the pipes when disconnected (Suggest covering with a small plastic bag and a rubber band). Disconnect the connector ( as "a"). Uncouple the pipe (4). Release the fixings (2) by a quarter turn; By means of a screwdriver . Slightly move aside: The heat shield (1). Remove: The lower housing (3) with the flexible reservoir . | Detach the flexible reservoir (6) from the lower housing (3). Uncouple and close the pipe (5). CAUTION: The flexible reservoir (6) must not protrude sideways from the lower housing (3) : Risk of damage (On reassembly) . Refitting
|
- Reset the additive counter to zero
- Perform the actuator test "refilling the pipe: additive pump - additive injector"; Using a diagnostic tool.

Re: Fuel additive level too low error
Sorry, I forgot to answer the first part of your question. Many members have bought their Lexia kits form a UK supplier and members can obtain a 15% discount store-wide.
See my post here for details. We know these are full kits, so are more expensive than the cheaper ones and UK support is provided:

Re: Fuel additive level too low error
Hi Folks,
I've recently bought a 207 1.4 hdi and the 'anti-polution' error has just come up.
I can't find the DPF bag/tank on my car, it's certainly not where it's pictured above. There's nothing running alongside the exhaust heat shield.
Any idea where I can find it?
Vin no. VF3**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff]
Cheers,
Jon

Re: Fuel additive level too low error
An anti pollution error could be due to many things. The DPF is the filter inside the exhaust, the bag/tank is what holds the fluid that assists with regenerating the DPF. You need to plug the car in to Diagbox to get the fault codes. Otherwise you could end up spending a lot of money on unneeded items

Re: Fuel additive level too low error
Indeed, but I'd like to check the tank/bag first to see what the level is. Car's done 97k and I can't find any mention in its service history of it being refilled/replaced.
Would like to know either way where it's located.
The car went into the sub 3k revs mode the other day. However on a run, after a few miles at 60, cleared and was topping 4k revs easy. After a days rest, back to sub 3k.
Cheers,
Jon
