Re: Berlingo towbar fitting
I had one some 40 odd years ago. When I got married 34 years ago I remember it coming with me into the house but I haven't seen it in at least 20 years. I'm not about to buy a replacement on the off-chance though!
As I get older I think a lot about the hereafter - I go into a room and then wonder what I'm here after.

Re: Berlingo towbar fitting
The annoying thing is I saw one for sale in a Vide-Grenier in Carpentras a few years ago. At the time I had no need for one so only gave it a cursory glance and when I had had second thoughts and went back it had gone.
Damn and double damn.

I still have my pair. Best used with lube.
Girls used to giggle and call them nanny-stretchers (or something like that).

Whenever I used to bring mine out (oo-err missus) there were comments about using them as an alternative to the umbrella treatment for a dose of the clap. Further details available on request...

Re: Berlingo towbar fitting
A long time back I used to work for a company making wiring looms. We had several of those tools (I believe they were called Hellermann tools), and the nickname that I heard was the Honeymoon Tool.

Golly gosh, and yipes!
I actually have one of those here, probably 50 years old... - "Patented - Made in England - Hellerman, Crawley, Sussex"
And probably from the 80s, these rather clever one-action cable strippers, able to take about 3mm² downwards...

Yes, I had a set of those type of strippers as well. The joke was that one had to throw a length of wire into the air and then, one handedly, intercept the falling piece of wire with the strippers so that it fell on the ground perfectly stripped.
I wonder where those are? Probably sitting next to the grommet stretcher, no doubt.

Re: Berlingo towbar fitting
I went shopping today hoping to find those pliers quickly but apparently nobody sells them at least in my town. So I need to order them from some internert shop. I am going for this hellersman product:

Re: Berlingo towbar fitting
Crikey, that's a big expense for a one-off job.

Yes it is. It always happens that when I try to DIY something I end up buying expensive tools. This tool seems pretty handy while doing electrical jobs on the car so I hope it is not just for one-off job.
