Hi,
I have recently had the injectors replaced on the above vehicle, however, since replacement, 2 clamps have since snapped.
I have now ordered a complete set of 4 from my local Citroen agent plus matching bolts.
Has anyone else suffered this issue, is it an easy job for a relative novice to replace these at home.
Cheers

Take it back to who done it as it sounds like the job wasn't done correctly, I'm a firm believer in jobs being done correctly so go stomp them into doing it again .... Free of charge for all the hassle

HI, I don't know which specific engine your car has and I stress my experience relates to C5 RHR engines ( I have 3 C5's ) but the following may be helpful.
Injector replacement - refit is a critical task because the fasteners i.e the studs or colonnettes which clamp the injectors are TTY fasteners and as is common with TTY fasteners and particularly those in this application can only be used once, if an injector is removed then the studs MUST, repeat MUST be replaced.
As with all TTY fasteners the initial tightening torque is critical as is the final angular tightening. These fasteners are used in tension just like a violin string and any undertensioning will make them ineffective and overtightening will in almost certainly take them beyond their yield point and render them completely ineffective as a fastener.
Standard practice and the Citroen Service requirement is that they are replaced anytime the injectors are removed, if this is not done failure of the stud or poor injector sealing in the head is the likely outcome and is courting an engine disaster.

Re: 2010 C5 X7 2.0 Hdi VTR+ NAV 163 Injector Clamps
Hi again, my apologies but I should have added that you will need to purchase 4 new copper seal washers for the injectors these are also use once items and make sure the plastic sleeves are present on the injector bodies not only do these stop dirt etc getting in but also centralise the injector in the bore.
Also when the job is completed check that there is no leakage not only from the high pressure lines but also the leak off return lines otherwise the top of the engine will eventually be swimming in diesel.
I should have added that a novice mechanic is more than capable of carrying out this task just get hold of the procedure for your engine and follow it exactly.
Hope this assists.

I feel your pain I'm on my 3rd set of injector clamps, if you count the originals as they keep shattering. I had all 4 replaced along with the seals and bolts and fitted by an experienced PSA specialist garage. They lasted 4 months and shattered then the replacements have lasted a year. I've also had to wait weeks to get them on back order from Citroen as they don't keep them in stock since shipping the C5 line off to China. To me it looks like the forged steel replacements are not of original quality and I'm now looking for a local engineering company to mill me a set that are up to the required standard.C5owner wrote: ↑14 Aug 2018, 19:54 Hi,

AS we speak I'm in the middle of fitting 3 sets of new clamps. I have had 5 fail in the last 1500 miles. I've fitted them myself this time. They were replaced previously by an independant Citroen trained garage. 3 times the car has been in there. This time it was 2 original clamps & 1 relatively new one that broke. As you've proably found the clamps are on back order from Citroen. I managed to source 3 sets from 2 different garages. I have just got the car running but am having problems with leaks from the injector feed pipes. They have been off & on so many times.
It is certainly feasible for a reasonably competent novice to do the job. I have had to buy a 2-25Nm 1/4" torque wrench to do it.
We've had enough of the car & replaced it with a Mercedes.
Back out to sort out the leaks now!
Adrian
PS the car has just 67000m on the clock.

I’ll put the correct procedure up for this DW10CTED4 163 engine as soon as I’m back at base. It will have the correct info and torque settings for you to follow.

On that subject I have to give credit where it's due to Ed in Warners of Tewkesbury parts department. I traced 2 of the clamp sets to them (rare as hen's teeth at the moment. I told Ed that I would be doing the job myself & totally unsolicited he printed off & enclosed with the parts a full set of Citroen instructions for the replacement job including tightening procedure & torque settings. Ran to 10 pages of A4. I was most impressed! Nice (& rare) to have service like that.

Ok, great, thanks for letting me know that has saved me a bundle of time.
We have a fridge engineer coming tomorrow to replace a load of parts, so off to get that sorted!

@ howardaskew: What exactly do you require? Wheeler has put the torque settings up already.

GiveMeABreak,
The torque settings are for refitting. I want to see how to get the injector out. What tools are required etc. If the injector is stuck I think there is a tool that will extract.
I will appreciate this.
