In our unceasing efforts to please every user of this site, I have now added a means of (almost) completely hiding the Post Love extension from users who do not wish to see it.

To hide the feature on the Index page, Forum Pages and Topic Pages:
  • Go to your "User Control Panel" page
  • Select the "Profile" tab (you may need to click the unnamed tab to the right of the "Overview" tab)
  • Check the "Postlove Hide:" checkbox at the bottom of the page
  • Check that you have filled in the "Location" field and "My Cars" fields
  • Submit the page
To stop receiving notifications when others like your posts:
  • Go to your "User Control Panel" page
  • Select the "Board Preferences" tab
  • Then "Edit Notification Options"
  • Un-check both boxes on the "Liked Posts" line
  • Submit the page
You now have a choice.

I'm still not convinced that there's a need for any of this on our forum and the fact that we can choose not to participate seems only to confirm my view. Did anyone REALLY ask for this and were the views of forum members canvassed?
Does anyone really need to know when a post of his/hers is 'like'd by anyone and if so can i ask WHY other than for self gratification.

I, for one, do not 'LIKE' it. It looks and feels 'kid-ish' and unless we are about to launch a recruitment drive to attract the next generation of just out of short trouser schoolkids can see no use for it at all here. It's the FB and twitterati crowd who 'like' to 'like' just because they have a button and can ...

Thank you for your efforts to modify the 'like' option - I appreciate what you've done. Seriously ! :)

Why introduce it in the first place though? Any answers to that question?

Facebook has very similar 'Like' functionality and will be familiar to any users of said social networking site...

Indeed, they keep talking of a 'Dislike' button on Facebook but it's not appeared yet...
