Thanks Jim. It looks like a corrupted file on the CD/ DVD. I have spoken on the phone to Chris in Diagnostic Tools, He had a few suggestions to make regarding installation, which I carried out, without success. He is sending me a new installation disc. I will advise you later.

From what I am reading here the Lexia leads and software are basically able to - find faults, reset paramerts and update software. Works for Xantia HDI and Xsara/C3 etc. Considering a C3 sensodrive (or AL4 box) so would like to think I could find problems with this sort of setup if they occur.

Just checking as about to buy one, if they are that useful. In the old days I would have invested in special tools, hub pullers, long reach sockets etc. Now we also need the electronics side too, so this is just another 'specialist tool' in the toolbox.

I have seen demos on youtube and get the idea but assume this is as good as it appears. At the moment if something goes astray I have to take it for a diagnostic and then act on that. As I can do anything mechanical (spanner or hammer related) being able to know what to turn or hit would be great.

I have worked with computers before but the idea of dialling in to the car and messing with settings is a worry, just so I can understand this is more or less full control of the electronics side. Can find faulty sensors, update old software etc.

I regard Lexia as essential equipment for my toolbox and if you're looking to buy a C3 sensodrive I can't help thinking that you may well put it to good use, if nothing else you can at least confirm what faults have been recorded even if you then pass the work on for someone else to carry out. Yes you can alter settings but only do that if you want to, it's not as if you'll suddenly discover you've altered something by mistake as there are procedures to follow asking you to confirm actions and even then as long as you record the steps you are taking you can always set it back to it's original state, as to what settings you can alter depends entirely upon what software is fitted to the particular vehicle.

The great thing about newer cars such as my daughters C3 is that unlike say a S1 Xantia where a fault is recorded and simply shown as intermittent or permanent, with her car Lexia shows how many times the fault appeared at what mileage, plus if/when it cleared to reappear, lists the number of faults in whatever order you wish such as time, number of appearances and so on. The range of faults and more information about each fault is also much greater making diagnosis so much easier.

If you do go for a C3 I'd just look to add an extra £120 onto the sale price to allow a Lexia purchase, if you then look for guidance on using it well I'm now pretty familiar with using Lexia.

Thanks, I am sure I will need advice when I start. That said the rest of this thread seems an FAQ section for installing.

I like the idea of testing voltages and pressures in the systems without dismantling parts and trying to measure stuff while under the car. With modern cars it is the electronics side (sensors and motors/pumps all over the place) that bothers me. Without a means of testing these it is a case of swapping bits to see if it helps. I have a friend coming here from the UK in May so will have one sent to him to bring out here.

I assume that I am one of the 3, if not it is now 4. :-D

I did write to the supplier to ask which kit I needed, assume the 5 lead kit is the one. No reply as yet but I am sure you know which is suitable.
What confused me was the list of other plugs and adapters for things I know nothing about as yet. Once I have used one I will understand ok. The cars I want it for are a 2001 Xanta HDI and possibly a C3 auto about 2004 or a Xantia 2003 ish.
I know the tester will work for all these but are there any adapters needed, or are these just for early or new models ?

Yes you'll be number 4

I've been rather busy the past couple of days, bought a new car for Dawn then yet another leaving do involving an overnight stay so I'm just now coming back to life, I'll get onto the supplier asap.

Sorry if this has been covered already, but how effective are these Lexia clones in respect of the new C5 series?
I have a 2009 2.0HDi model about to come out of warranty (not impressed by the Citroen main dealers anyway), I had been rooting Yahoo groups etc., as well as trying to get info out of some of the chinese sellers for the last year with no definitive answers.
Any experiences would be a major help....

I can't say as I haven't had the chance to use mine on a C5 111 yet, it's worked on everything else I've tired it on which is quite a lot.

I'm just to the west of the M25, you're more than welcome to pop in for a trial if it's convenient for you.

 Would that it were possible.... I live in Romania, so a bit.. #-o ..awkward.
C5s are a bit rare over here (as are motorways  ), and there is not a wealth of knowledge on them (least of all with the dealers  ), hence my enquiry back home to you lads. Although I realise the forums are predominantly for the older models, and I do miss the relative simplicity of the BX and XM series, I have to face the fact that a laptop and interface are today's essential tools.....
Thanks for the kind offer anyhow....Cheers... 8-)
