Knock Sensor Removal/replacement.

Post by Colin2206 »

The car is a Peogeot 207, 2008, 1.6l, petrol.

I am getting consistent error code P0328, which relates to the knock sensor. I am having difficulty identifying it. Haynes says on the back of the cylinder block and to remove the engine undershield, which suggests it is the bottom of the engine. I see a sensor there but not like the photo in Haynes. I would need to drop the exhaust to get to it. So if anyone has a sketch or diagram showing its location, that would be great.
I'm also getting a error code of P0053 which is the 1st. O2, and I am changing that out.

The knock sensor is typically in the middle of one side of the "block" under the inlet manifold.
It is roughly disc or cylindrical with the mounting bolt running through the middle of it.
It may be "hiding" behind the starter. You may need a mirror to find it.
Is this a second hand car? Could the previous owner have removed it? Any connector hanging in the breeze about that spot?

Heater failures of the oxy sensors are quite common.

Assuming its the BMW engine the knock sensor should be around here.
Important points are to make sure the surface it mates to on the block is clean & flat, its orientated as shown & it must be torqued correctly (20Nm)
