Just ensure the maps include the UK and that the maps and system firmware are up to date.
Depending on what system you have, you may have to enter the postcode onto the Town field (for RT6 systems).

Has the car been imported from another country outside Europe?
What year is it and where are you trying to input the postcode?
I believe there is a problem if you're in, say England, and try to input a Scottish, Welsh or NI postcode. Not a problem I've ever had so I can't enlighten you any more on that.
