806 fails to start

Post by Wearde quay1 »

I am frantic to move an 806, outside my Easter host's address in Southampton.

There has been a chattering noise, isolated to a relay situated next to the EMU.

Local resources are unhelpful/unavailable on necessary time scales.

Suggestions include checking fuses and earth connections, and finding specialist advice on the EMU function.

I wonder if anyone has experienced similar problems and can advise? Fuses are located behind the glove box.

The vehicle is petrol 2 litre.

The VIN is VF3**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff].

I wonder if anyone can help?

Ok so this is a 1996 petrol Injection with XU10J2 engine with Magneti Marelli Injection ECU.

Unfortunately you'll need somebody (ideally with Peugeot Planet 2000 diagnostics) to run a diagnostic. That should provide some indications of the issues if there are any faults logged.

Without that it will be guesswork - especially if it has been standing for some time.

According to my info this has a coded ignition - the vehicle won't start without the correct code being entered.

If you've entered the code incorrectly 3 times it will lock down for 30 minutes.

To unblock the coded anti-start keypad, wait at least 30 minutes then switch on the ignition for 1 minute (time to unblock the ECU) before re-entering the code. The injection-ignition ECU will have to be replaced if the user code is lost.

Chattering noise when trying to crank/start suggests battery voltage is low, or a bad starter motor connection.
Try a jump start from another vehicle, and check the main battery connections (battery terminals) after cranking. If either gets at all warm, that indicates a bad connection at/inside the connector.

Hi,

I have the same problem: X 3.

I am seeking capable diagnostic support.

Garage claiming to have pp planet says the vehicle should be off the road.

Can anyone advise reliable source off pp in London/Essex ( I can't seem to access data from the map)?

If you are struggling to get PP2000 if you can get someone with Citroen Lexia that will work fine too on something of this age, just enter it as a Synergie & get an aproximate RP number to enter.

The map just shows you the locations and the member name, go back to the listing on the Forum thread and click on the member name there in order to see the member's profile and send a private message or email (where they have allowed this). Anyone with Diagbox will be able to diagnose it.
