XU9J4 Engine

Post by xsaras4ever »

Hello to all.

A long time ago we were told that the Ford Cosworth engine was actually based on the diesel block because it was stronger. Don't know if it is true or not but it leads us to the following question.

The XU9J4 engine is hard to find at a reasonable price but we have had an offer of a complete head for 90 euros and is there any chance that the block exists somewhere else in the PSA range of cars ?

Sometime in the long distant future we want to create a screamin 205 with this engine running a pair of Webbers and feel that now would be the time to start stockpiling the parts

Thank you in Advance

Hi thanks , had already seen that.

The reason we posed the question is that the XUD9 has the same bore/stroke 83mm/88mm as the XU9. Wondered if it would be possible to fit the diesel block to the 16v petrol head ?

All the XUD are iron blocks. The XU5/7/9 are alloy blocks with liners. They are completely different beasts.

Crankshafts are interchangeable between all the XUD and XU series of engines though with rods and pistons having to be mixed/matched to suit.

What do you consider is a reasonable price for an XU9J4, xsaras4ever?
