Broken wire....

I found a broken wire coming from behind the radiator into the engine bay (see image).
I'm pretty sure it's from the fan. Any ideas on where it's supposed to be connected?
The black wire which comes with it is ground to the chassis in front of the fusebox.....

I'm going to suggest that it doesn't look like it's part of the car's standard wiring harness.

Some DIY addition or bypassing the harness for some reason?

I did wonder but you may be right, the bloke I got it from has done quite a bit (& not all in a good way) to this car, it's just with everything else that has gone on with it since the weekend I wasn't sure if this was something to do with one of the issues. Thank you

That ground lead in the background (yellow crimp-eye connector) is a DIY mod. Perhaps see where that black wire leads to, and you might get a clue what is was meant to do.
