1st thought: the Simca 1100 is 50! Never thought of them & Dyanes as being contemporaries.
If ever there was an event for this forum, this is it - perhaps I'd better make an effort.

Think I might be at this in old Katy to represent the Xantia movement
It'll be my only car event this year

Time flies Van
I wonder if there are any left... They used to dissolve quicker than a sugar cube in a cup of coffee...
You could watch them rusting in real-time

But the Lancia Beta still could out-rust it. Immaculate to orange heap of flaky scrap in 6 months (and that was when stored in a decent garage in Italy!).

Yes, that's true James Closely followed by the Alfa-Sud and anything made by Matra...
Matra made missiles as their primary business and had no need to worry about rust-proofing as missiles tend to be used only once!
Sadly, they applied the same logic to their cars...
Despite that, I'd still love a Matra Bagheera despite it having a rattly old Simca engine in it...

The Admin team received the following query regarding the CCC French Car Weekend. I have suggested Robert contact the organisers at the email provided on the poster, however I am replicating Robert's query here in case anyone who has been to these events previously can provide some advice:
Hi, mundane question but do we need to book for the French Car Weekend in Stratford or just turn up if so how ?
many thanks.
Robert

Re: CCC French Car Weekend @ Stratford upon Avon 2-3rd September 2017
I was prepared to make the effort but the original idea of going on the Saturday & going down to Devon afterwards had to be changed to going on the Sunday from Devon as I'd had to leave the C15 down there the previous w/e with a suspect injector IF that could be sorted on the Saturday. Turned out it's an air leak in/around the tank - so it wasn't going to be a quick fix! So much for putting off dropping the tank earlier in the year to investigate why it was running out of fuel when it was still a 1/4-full. [looks like I might have to revive my blog - although it'd have been very Jeep heavy in recent weeks (months?)]
