C5 HDI 2L 2003 oil tube Removal-Sensors

Post by ozzdownunder »

Hi, checking to find out how to remove the dipstick oil tube on the C5HDI 2003 Diesel. Part of the dipstick is stuck in the tube. Because it is lodged in the bent section its hard to remove it. Other than forcing it into the sump and removing the sump I was thinking, how hard is it to remove the tube itself :?: . Any ideas or pictures to describe its removal without any major parts would be great. As I can see there is only 1 bolt near the top hose clamp. Having undone this did not release the tube, but then I did not force the issue either, just in case I make things worse. On another note, after I removed and externally cleaned the grease from the inter cooler next to the radiator and replaced it the car when driving starts of without the normal power. That is, I think the turbo charger does not kick in until the engine runs for 5min or so. After it warms up it will run normally with the turbo working fine. Could this be one of the sensors that is attached on the top large hose that runs from the inter-cooler to the rear metal connector? If have NOT touched nor changed anything else but disconnected the top big hose that has 2 sensors attached to it, 1 small sensor near the radiator connecting to a small rubber tube and a larger sensor that is fitted inline on the same top hose. All I did was clean out the oil with a rag inside the tube not using any spirits or cleaners, just a clean rag. What are the sensors doing and what do the contacts supposed to look like inside the hose? Any pictures of what these sensors look like with the sensor contacts showing (not the connection contacts) Any input is appreciated, tx

Post up your VIN in the first place and we'll be able to see what's what, as there are several 2.0 variants.

I'm pretty sure the dipstick tube is just an interference fit into the block and can be removed by a twisting action with a suitable tool.

I'm trying to upload a diagram based on a 110 engine, but good old photobucket servers are down again at present. There were several modifications to the dipstick and tubes - but they seem easy enough to detach looking at the diagram (when I can upload it).

At last... This is for the 110 HDi:

There is a turbo pressure sensor at the radiator. Green Denso item iirc.

if the dipstick tube (6) is anything like my 2.2 8 valve (it may not be), its anchored into the sump, with an 8mm bolt
I was taking the sump off and the tube was just in the way

with that bolt out I still had to use careful leverage to get it out (an o ring)

As a matter of interest while the picture is up, note number 5 the dipstick pipe inside the sump, although the dipstick is at the front of the engine it actually dips in the oil at the back, something to think about when you're checking the oil on not so level ground.
