Judging by what I've read on here, this one is a bit of an old chestnut. The blower on my C5 heater has stopped working, reading other posts I have replaced the resistor (seems common enough) unfortunately this has not resolved the issue. The controls show that the heater is working at its different levels (including screen clear) but there is nothing coming through. Anyone have any ideas? It is a 54 reg.
Thanks in advance.

Re: Heater Woes
At risk of stating the obvious - but have you checked the fuse? You haven't mentioned the year, model, spec. etc., on the C5 X7 the air conditioning blower is marked as F11 40A in the fuse box under the bonnet. If you have your owners manual, have a look at location and try replacing this first of all.

The car is a 1.8 petrol vtr, I checked the fuses and they're fine.

Re: Heater Woes
It does seem the the most common fix, but there have been duff ones from ebay. Here's a video of repair to the resistor in case it helps:

Interesting, although the video is a little rapid, the fix appears simple; I will try that if I don't get any other fixes.
Thanks for the advice and link.

Re: Heater Woes
If the transistor has been soldered in with lead free solder you will need to run some tin/lead solder onto the joint to get it all to melt.

Re: Heater Woes
I've just watched the video again and notice that when the controlls are pressed they do not show this on the display, when I press my controls it all shows to be working? Each segment of the fan speed indicator lights up; is this still the same fix?

Re: Heater Woes
Sorry to resurrect this old best it again, I have changed the resistor pack with one purchased off fleabay, heating worked for a couple of weeks now nothing. I'm aware that it could be the resistor again but before I change it I'd like to check the bushes on the actual fan motor. Can anyone point me in the direction of where it is? I've looked on line but there is no definitive answer to this.

Re: Heater Woes
I think it's right at the back of the dash, accessed via the glovebox, but if you can confirm what version it is (mk1 / 2 / 3) then we can check.
1.8 VTR suggests a MK2 (04-08) in which case, yes, it's at the back of the heater box, accessed (if you can call it that!) via removing the glove box.

Thanks for that Richard, you assume correctly with the version.
