I have used Elastomer for XM Strut Tops and can thoroughly recommend them

I dont know about the strut tops but I've just put a set of original birth droplinks on the c5 they seem like better quality than fistline or as good as febi

Look up elastomer.eu - a company in Lithuania.

They renew your old struts for 160€ + 21% VAT (one pair).

The package from Lithuania to Sweden costs 22€ + VAT and it took nearly three weeks so be patient...

Elastomer also renew XM struts and BX (although I never heard that BX have problems with the struts...?)

As the BX came before the Xantia one would expect it (the Xantia) to be, moving forward in design, and engineering issues/problems, and not create an issue that as you say was not present on the earlier model.

To be honest the Xantia ALSO went backwards with the Height Corrector Cradles, and the stupidly complex double levers, which sieze up all the time, unlike any other hydro Citoren before them that used a completely different and simpler setup.

Following this excellent post with interest - I guess we all are, as it's only a matter of time IMHO!!
I guess Activ8 means they have followed Frauds Value Engineering concepts and have (un?)knowingly designed in a fault by making it ever cheaper to manufacture; after all they are sadly only interested in the warranty life. It's left to us to pick up the pieces and the Forum to educate us "how to", for which I am always sincerely grateful - thanks guys, all of you

TD excepted. Stil doing a sterling job. Both Activas and V6 aren't earning their keep.

I'd always assumed that Xantia Mk2's were immune to the strut top failure and therefore hadn't checked them too carefully. I had a little chat with Jim earlier this year, about the rubber coating on the underside being forced off by rust, but left it at that till now.
I did a good bit of work this year for the MOT replacing wishbone bushes/bolts CV joint rubbers, droplinks, inner and outer trackrods, brake cables, pads, discs all round and the top engine mount bushes.. (bottom to be done this week).
I happened to read the all of this thread whilst on my last night shift and though I'd check the strut tops inside. Lo and behold I found the rubber coating cracking and on peeling this away, found rusty metal underneath. I removed some more and foung the whole bell of the strut top was rusty underneath the rubber.. So I thought I'd check the recently acquired 36k Mk2 and it too has the cracked rubber with rust underneath.
Whilst I'm not saying that it is near failure in either case, I'm not taking the chance and have made my initial contact with Elastomer for refurbishment in the summer.
It just might be worth checking out your Mk2's for the cracking rubber.

I repaired the cracking rubbers with rubber cement I got some from a chap who sells used tyres and patches them to sell on as part worns. But not before applying a good two coats if k- rust to the plates the rubbers are supposed to be protecting. I then siliconed the rubbers back into position excluding as much air as humanly possible. U then applied wax oil thinned with 10% white spirit around the bottom if the bells in the inner wings. A job well worth doing. She is 19 this year and still no corrosion.
