I have just bought a 54 plate C5 facelift model with 74,000 fleet miles but I have found out that the timing belts were not changed at the last service (72,000), as it was not a main dealer sale. So it was a oil and filters kind of service.
Having checked with Citroen City, they want over £400 to replace the belts and roller bearings, which seems very steep. Then if I had the proper 80,000 mile service on top, rather than the used car 32point that it had recently, that would be another £290.
Can anyone suggest a good independant, ideally in East London or Essex / North Kent?
Citroen C5 Timing Belt change - recommendation?

What engine is in your C5?
I know the HDi 2.0s are 100K miles beteween cambelt changes, though im not sure if id like to leave it that long!
Try a good indy garage, i wouldnt be paying tose kind of prices. Not sure what garages are in your area though, maybe a good Citroen specialist somewhere?

A lot of manufactures have now got reccomendations of 100'000. But on a personal note I would never leave a belt on for more than 50'000, on any engine.
When asked by a customer recently, when is the best time to change the belt getting value for money, I replied, the day before it snaps, but unfortunatly you dont know when that is.
Regards
Martin.

For that kind of money, you could go off to Halfords to buy all the tools and equipment you need to do it.
Do the change yourself.
And spend the money you'd save yourself down the pub later and brag about how you mended your own car.
