306 Airbag Light

Post by DHallworth »

Having had the 306 airbag light flashing on several occasions before I had always managed to cure it by cleaning the plugs under the seat.

This time though the light was solid rather then flashing. I scanned it with Peugeot Planet and got two faults:

Permanent Fault: Driver's module trigger. Open Circuit.
Permanent Fault: Left side module ignition module. Open Circuit.

Anybody got any ideas what the fix for this might be?

It's a 2000 306 HDi Meridian with the side airbags in the seats.

Thanks in advance.

David.

This one turned out to be crap connections under the passengers seat. Have cured this and got rid of the stored fault.

The other one according to Peugeot planet is likely to be the steering wheel rotary switch.

Am just about to have a peak at that.

The seat wiring is the normal cause as you've found out. I guess the clockspring could be going intermittent.

This one turned out to be the rotary coupling under the steering wheel.

Tenner for a replacement this morning and the car is now without warning lights and in for it's MOT.

Interestingly, when removed from the car the old one had gone short circuit.
