C5 left wiper broken

another problem with my 2008 C5 !!!!...the left wiper suddenly just stopped working today, the drivers side one also now only goes at 1 speed. I can see the other wiper jumping as if it wants to move but nothing. broken motor perhaps ??

Normally one motor drives both arms so suspect broken spindle or arm has come off the splines of the spindle.

interesting. maybe its electronic fault as the good wiper is now only moving at slow speed. nothing like constant problems to keep you on your toes...cheers Citroen.....

Mk 3 C5 has individual motors for each arm, and (almost certainly) an ECU to control them. If you put it on a Lexia it may give a fault on the wiper motor (s) or ECUs. Mandrake is near Glasgow and has got a Lexia.

New motors are a mere £250. Each

It happened recently with daughters Xsara. One of the ball joints had separated. Difficult repair so sourced a replacement motor and drive from ebay. Cost about £22.

Almost bound to be otherwise they could quickly get out of sync. That would be fun

Failed on mine too when still under warranty (what hadn't !).
Motor replaced. It shows up as a fault when on a diagbox session.
Wonder if water ingress could be a factor from a windscreen replacement ?

wiper motor failed. local garage took it apart and tried to repair it but no good.
citroen want £215+VAT for a new one so now trying to source a salvage part.

seems as if its just part after part that needs replaced now, at least something every 2 months. poor build quality

water ingress is a possibility, there was a white residue on the motor (salt ?).

when I get new wiper motor and replace it I will need to glue the windscreen seal back down, what kind of sealant is used for this ??

Go to page 10 there was a recall for the wiper motors on your c5. print it of and go to dealers

recall is interesting but it states drivers side. its the passenger side thats failed on mine. I sourced a replacement for £65 and hopefully that will sort it !...

If the recall advisory was originally written for the European (LHD) market drivers side could indeed mean the left hand side of the car, but I guess its a moot point now that you've ordered one.
