VW certainly is no better for reliability than other makes, in my opinion and experience. In fact our major failings on cars (an engine in one car and a gearbox in another) have been on fairly new at the time VW group cars. Disappointing. I like the Passat and the general build quality of the interior but its approaching the time when it will need quite a bit of work. I've been considering a new small car for well over a year, its time I got one!
Yes, you've guessed it. I'm getting a new C1, I've always liked the original and miss the one we used to have, they are great fun to drive, as you know. The new style C1 is quite a bit more refined than the original and it rides better too, though it doesnt seem to have lost the character from the original. Of course the engine is the same 1.0 Toyota unit as before too.
I had looked at them as soon as they were available in the UK and thought that they had lost some appeal of the original. However I had a better look at them when I was in France, as the dealer had a better selection, and by the time I came back had just about decided to order one, pending a test drive.
I like small cars and the C1 is a fun car to drive for what it is, I have my Xantia HDi for most of the long distance trips, so the C1 will suit perfectly.

Thanks Mark. Mine isn't having the fabric roof as I don't like the idea, it also robs headroom to the point the rear seats are very limited. I can't sit in the back of a Airscape C1 (with the fabric roof) but the normal ones are fine.

It is the new C1, Jim and I'll certainly be interested to know that once I get it and settle in. There is a lot to like about the original and I hope the new one has as much about it.
Mine is a 5 door in the middle range 'Feel' spec which has Air Conditioning, 7" colour touch screen, music streaming, phone hands free, remote locking, trip computer, etc. I've also added a few optional extras to it, like alloy wheels.
I took my sister along when I ordered my C1, the day after she got thinking and decided to go back and order one herself. So we will both be getting our new C1s at the same time
