C5 X7 Air Con With Fault Codes

Post by GiveMeABreak »

My C5 X7 had Air con issues 6 months ago - went into dealers about 5 times until the leak was finally detected in the condenser. The Condenser was replaced and all has been well until yesterday on 270 mile trip. The Air con was working fine in the morning, but by lunhtime I noticed there was no cooling. It was a hot day 27 degrees, so not impressed. I parked up, with enging running:
  • Engine Fan running high as expected - hot day and a long run
  • The Compressor clutch was not engaging when operating the A/C button (it has dual zone climate)
So, windows open for the 270 mile return trip!

This morning I have ran a Diagbox session and there were 2 new faults in the BSI:
  • F5FF - Unexpected Re-initialisation fault coming from the BSI
  • C994 - Engine Fusebox: Fault in the Aircon Compressor Clutch Control Circuit.
I have booked it back into the dealers for Tuesday, as I'm pretty fed up with it now, but does anyone have an idea of likely culprit with the above codes?

First one just comes from battery change. Second one will be the reason why the AC is not working. Perhaps the coil has gone open circuit in the compressor; or maybe it's just a fuse box fault!

That was my feeling Richard - but battery hasn't been off for months and is new anyway - so I'm guessing they are related to the fault - if it's the coil, I'm guessing it'll be a new compressor then as they won't be mucking about repairing it. The list gets longer, and that warranty has paid for itself nearly 20 times over already!

Ok update so far, at the garage and after 2 hours, have been informed it is the compressor that has gone to Air Con heaven (or Hell in this case). So just waiting for the call regarding Warranty authorisation later today [-o<
