C3 Gearbox oil change

Post by Fox67 »

Hi,

New to this forum so I hope this is the wright place for my Q.
I helped my sister replace a bad ball joint and unfortunately pulled out the drivshaft to far resulting in too much gearoil on the floor :(
The car is a Citroen C3 year 2014 (CITROЁN C3 II (SC) 1.2 VTi 82 Petrol 82 hk )

If I understand it wright it is importent to use the correct oil. Is it importent to use exactly the same as it is in the car or is it poosible to top up with onother brand if you would choose to top up? I do not want to fill it up. I am just curious of how the professionals do if this happens.

I found here a link too aproved engine and gearbox oil.
Can I replace this that I fond (TOTAL TRANSMISSION BV 75W80) with this, TOTAL TRANSMISSION, GEAR 8

I found what i think is the drain screw and the level plug (see pictures below). In that video they say you should fill in the level plug until it comes out oil.
Is this correct? How much oil do I need?

Thanks for all help!

Dont touch the level plug (if it even has one). Just do a complete drain & refill with the correct amount of oil. The amount will depend on what gearbox it fitted. I suspect the sheet above is not for your gearbox as i reckon 2 litres is probably too much. Would need VIN to confirm the gearbox fitted. I guess this is a mk3 C3 & not a mk2 as i dont think the 1.2 was ever fitted to the mk2?

This is the correct gearbox for a 2014 A51 C3 with 1.2 EB2F engine.
The mkII/ C3 Restylée ended in modelyear 2010. Some still call that the mkI

The EB2F doesnt use the common BE4/R, as is visible on his photos.

Thanks,
Will order 2 litres of that oil.
The VIN is VF7**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff] i
For the record, the pictures is not from my car but the plugs marked in the circles are also on my car.
But I will fill the oil as described in the picture from citoenguy and not as described in the picture I posted.

Thanks a lot for the help. Feels a lot better to know that I am filling it with the right amount and the right oil.

I assumed the pictures were stock picture that why I wanted to confirm gearbox type & confirm it was an A51 & not a mk 2.
This one is an MA box so it is indeed 2 litres exactly.
