Hi All
Does anyone know if the ring which holds the button cap/seal on the brake doseur valve on an XM (think its same as BX and Xantia) are symmetrical or if they have to go in a certain way round. I trying to put a new seal on mine and I am trying to convince myself one side looks slightly different to the other, but I am not sure !
thanks

Re: Doseur valve seal ring
Hmm as I thought, its not in far enough. I just don't know what I am doing wrong. I have tried lubricating it with LHM, Sillicone grease, red rubber grease. I have tried pushing on with my fingers, I have tried using a socket as a drift. I tried a two different rings, I on to my second new seal after I tore the other trying to get it all back together. aaaaaaagggrrrrrr

Re: Doseur valve seal ring
Can you get the ring (and the rubber) out again, to measure the depth available?

Re: Doseur valve seal ring
right I am a bit happier with that. managed to get it out and with more red rubber grease and using the dirft from the start I got it on further. now fingers crossed it doesn't leak

Looking better...
I was going to ask whether the circlip behind the rubber was in its correct position (a slot?).
This push-in ring is not dissimilar to a height-corrector rubber retainer.

yeah what a faff. I think I should have taken it off the car but I didn't want to disturb the HP lines, as I would then have to find the correct seals and then wait to order and collect. not sure why it was such a pig to get in though.

Re: Doseur valve seal ring
Hopefully thats all leak free now, as I put it back together. another fiddly job getting all those fixings one. I couldn't find a torque value in the Haynes for the 3 hex bolts which hold the bracket. I tried 20Nm like the bracket to valve bolts but the internal hex didn't like that
Is there a specific way to attach the bracket to the pedal lever? It just kind of sits there at the moment
Cheers
