2020 Citroen Spacetourer Front Parking sensor Retrofit

Post by Bland88 »

Hi Everyone,

Firstly a little background on me, this is the first Citroen I have Owned so i have little experience with modifying them, however have been modifying cars for a long time and have had several magazine features with cars i have built/modified over the years so i am not phased by the challenge that lies ahead

I'm planning on retrofitting Front parking sensors to our new Spacetourer. Ideally i would like to add the original PSA sensors and get them working through the car properly, so they also show on the screen. I know this will be a challenge but i have done similar things in the past with various other car brands (Landrover, VW/Audi).

I have started to collect the parts that will be needed however I am struggling to find a wiring diagram/pin out from the parking ecu,
if anyone could point me in the right direction i would really appreciate your help.

also i will need to get setup with diagnostic/programming software as I imagine that I will need to code the new ecu and sensors to the car. so again any advice would be a great help.

Thanks In Advance

I won't have a diagram for a vehicle this new, so you may have to get that from Citroen, but bear in mind, although you may have the correct parking assistance ECU and the sensors, there are different wiring looms in place depending on the vehicle options fitted at factory.

There are also different versions of the telematics units / Head units fitted depending on options, so consider that and of course it will need dealer coding most likely if it is this new as the older Diagbox 7 may not be able to detect detect the newer kit. Diagbox 9.** has little to no telecoding functionality outside the dealership systems as they require internet connections to PSA servers in most cases for newer vehicles that you won't be able to access.

If you give me the reg number or last 8 digits of the VIN i'll see what i can do on a wiring diagram. Does the car currently have rear sensors?
Are both plugs on the park assist ECU currently used? is there a blank 10 way grey connector behind the bumper at the offside?

...and is this the C4 Spacetourer (B78) or the Spacetourer Van (K0)?

I kind of assumed it was a spacetourer van (K0), if it is I should be able to help.
I forgot there was a C4 spacetourer, may not be able to do anything with that.

Hi everyone,
It’s a spacetourer van, and currently has rear sensors fitted, I’ve checked the parking ecu in the drivers side footwell and I can confirm there is only the green plug connected, there is no grey plug that I can see at first glance, although I have this on the ecu I got from a breakers.

I thought I might have to make up the loom anyway

I will check the vin tomorrow and get back to you

I guess my biggest worry is coding the car and if it has to be done by the dealership it may be difficult to find someone willing to do it?

The issue you'll have is that with a newer vehicle like this, and talking specifically about the proprietary software used by Citroen (Diagbox), it will need something like version 9.6* or later. With these versions, most of the manual configuration features have been removed in favour of internet coding via the official dealers who have access to PSA servers and are authenticated users. So you may find that your vehicle is in one of these categories.

I would also watch you warranty! Any modifications you make on a new vehicle still under warranty would most likely void any claims you have in the future - and wiring modifications is certainly one of these unless you got a dealer-approved aftermarket fitted solution. I just wanted to make you aware of this before you start the job :)

If it’s possible to get hold of a set of wiring diagrams we will see how complex the wiring is, if it just a harness from the ecu straight to the sensors it might be straight forward to fit.

Maybe it’s possible to buy the harness from Citroen, or even get one from a breaker

However It might be a non starter, if it isn’t possible to have the activated.

Not quite as simple as that. The sensors have their own harness of course and these then feed into another harness. It is probably the intermediate or fascia harness that will be different - as these have different part numbers depending on the factory fitted options. It's no longer one harness fits all these days.

On some other models there are the front and rear sensor harnesses. The front sensors go into an intermediate harness back to the parking assistance ECU. The rear sensor harness plugs into the same. However, the ECU plug that contains the front sensors also then has the multiplexed CAN wiring back to the BSI via one or more looms. If Wheeler has a diagram for this VAN, then that should provide the interconnections.

Hi, i have your VIN now so i’ll have a look for a diagram. Will not likely be till later this evening though.
Did you check if the 10 way grey connector is behind the front bumper at the offside?

Hi! Do you have the diagram for rear sensors only? I want to see if this is compatible with my car (usually they all have the same diagram, the BSI is the same).

Thanks!
