Peugeot 206 Alternator problems

Post by robin92 »

Hello!

I have a Peugeot 206 2002 2.0 petrol engine

Altnernator with 1 big + and 1 connector with 2 smaller cables

The Problem

Alternator dont charge, I have 12v if I mesure the small connector.
No battery warning light and peugeot planet software says " temporary error databus to cluster" but everything in the cluster works.

Are the alternator broken or do I have any broken cable?

Thanks

Is the battery warning light a light or an LED? The reason I ask is that the light (be it a bulb or an LED) makes up part of an important circuit (the exciter circuit), and a blown bulb stops this from working, so the alternator doesn't charge the battery. Once the alternator starts to charge the battery the exciter circuit has done its' job, so the light goes out.

I dont no but the bsi controls the alternator. Not like a old system with 5w light bulb.

Are you checking the charge output with your meter earthed on the casing of the alternator & the meter positive lead on the big terminal?

Most likely the problem is in the charge regulator which is in the alternator.
