Morning all I’m new to this forum so bare with with me ! I have a 2011 Citroen relay and the radiator fan isn’t coming on , I’ve replaced the the fan unit it’s self as it was faulty, a new thermostat as the old one was stuck open . The temperature gauge seems to work fine so I’m guessing the sensor is ok ? The ac fan comes on fine but the other dose not when up to temperature, the relay on the engine fuse box seems fine is there any more relays anywhere ? It’s driving me crazy any help would be most appropriated

The high speed fan / setting may not be designed to come on until a certain temperature is reached - and that is usually over 100 °C. I may have a better idea if I know exactly the engine type and system fitted. Pop your VIN (automatically masked form public view on submission) up and I'll take a look.

VF7**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff]
I’ve tried to get a new temp/fuel temp sensor to see if it was that but had no joy finding the right one either .

Right this is the Ford Puma 2.2 Engine with 1 x 300W fan and 1 x 400W fan for A/C models.

The thermostat opens at 88 °C
The First Speed kicks in at 97 °C
The second speed at 102.5 °C
The warning light comes on at 118 °C

Post cooling kicks in at 108 °C for 90 seconds

So these are the triggering temperatures.

Ok right what I will do is get it up to temperature then plug it in and see what it’s running at maybe it’s just not getting hot enough for the fan to kick in , or could the sensor be faulty giving a false reading ?

So apart from my fan on my X7 kicking in on low speed with the AC as normal. I've rarely ever had my main engine fan running at full speed, except on a swelteringly hot day in the summer stuck in traffic on the motorway.

Right I’ve give it a good run for nearly 2 hours and let it idle for 40mins and the max temperature it got to was 83

So looks good - if the coolant is doing its job and the ambient outside temp. is quite cool, then you may find it takes a while longer to get to the 102.5 °C second fast speed trigger point. Summer would be a better time to try.

Ok thank you I might change the sensor for peace of mind anyway can you recommend where to get one from as my local automotive shop can’t find the right one
