Yes, green and orange like the SAAB I like very nice.

I have a strange affection for dash lighting at night. I even still remember a Vauxhall Viva we had hired for a week or so back in the 70's. 90% sure it had a purple high beam dash light.....and maybe even one of those horizontal red thermometer speedos (I'm sure there's a proper name for them but you know what I mean).

Same here Neil and from a very young age too...

The Renault 16TS had a beautiful set of night-time dash illuminations 😎

I well remember the high beam warning lights that looked purple around the edges. Not confined to Vauxhalls of a certain age as far as I recall... A lovely touch 🙂

My favourite from the 70's was my father-in-law to be's Mk4 Zephyr. The dash had no backlighting at all as such. When you turned on the lights little dots of green appeared everywhere, it looked so sophisticated and made you feel in charge of a space craft!! All the switches and dials were crisp and clear, it was superb! :-D

Rubbish attempt with phone - forgot to take the camera. I don't usually have the car after dark and this was just to capture the mileage/mpg before resetting after filling up.

Note the lack of a speedo! This was a problem first encountered when bringing the car home.
It is obscured by the steering wheel.

Notable feature of this motor....it had a record player!

"the biggest gimmick of the year came in the form of the Highway Hi-Fi record player, which played unique 16 2/3 rpm records. A standard set of 6 came with the car, but many more were available. This option also automatically got the seek-and-scan searchtune radio upgrade as well. "

1956 De Soto FireFlite Dash-the little buttons at the left of the dash are the Auto transmission Selector.

That's magic 💛😎 The XM Multimedia if I'm not very much mistaken... The only model of XM to be painted bright red, Dante's or Wicked I believe...

They looked stunning :-D

Never available in RHD or in the UK sadly...

My Xantia LX 1.8i auto was Danté/Wicked Red. A splendid colour, and a terrific company car for 30k miles a year.

Jim, I've found a little video on the XM Multimedia and posted it up on this thread worth a watch.

Not quite as flamboyant an interior as the one above, but definitely a wicked red paint job :-D
