C5 X7 2ltr Saloon Cam Belt Change

Post by PeeBee »

Hello All,
I am contemplating changing the timing belt on my 12 year old C5 with 66k on the clock and I have read the excellent topic already on the forum but I have some queries as I am conscious that the part numbers and perhaps procedures may be slightly different on my vehicle in relation to the vehicles that the specific topic was based on.
In the topic in question "Cambelt change on an automatic c5 tourer 2010 2.0 HDI " from around 2018 I wonder if there are any procedural differences between the diesel and petrol engine ?. I would be grateful if perhaps Marc could look at my VIN and offer some advice on the Gates part numbers that are applicable to my vehicle which is a 2008 petrol saloon, 2ltr auto.
I am fortunate in that I have access to a garage hoist to work on and mention this in case there may be some slight procedural fitting difference, although I cant see what.

Thanks in advance for any advice.
Paul

Hi Paul

I have already put up the specific procedure for the C5 X7 Petrol EW10A engine already. It is in the Resources section here for donating members:

Let me know how you get along as I need to check my timing as well! Do you have the special tools needed (looked online and they go for about 90 Euro)?

Hi Rrijken,
I thought I had or could borrow, all the tools I need but unfortunately thats not the case so I will have to search around and see what I can find. Have you seen anywhere specifically where they are currently available ?. Tried searching ebay and can only find tools for 1.6 as opposed to my 2ltr petrol

Hi Rrijken,
Eventually I found a supplier on E-bay who can supply a full kit for £75 - thetoolacademy.
