Expert 1.9 Split pipe help please

Post by simon68 »

Would very much appreciate some help/advice on my diesel leaking problem. Was having a great time stealth camping in Scotland before I got a strong whiff of diesel and a small puddle appeared. I braved it and started my drive back. Managed 90 odd miles before she packed up and thankfully got home with Green Flag recovery. I've been out there this morning and found a metal pipe leading to the pump has totally split. I've enclosed a pic. Sorry for poor quality. Am i right in thinking this is an injector pipe? I am a novice mechanic but if it's just a case of changing a pipe i'd like to have a go myself. How easy is it to remove the MAF sensor? I can't see a clip on it.

I've included a better photo. I've just managed to undo the nut.

Everything is attached using nuts bolts screws and clips shouldn't be too difficult to take apart

Thanks Doctle, Yep it's Access that i'm struggling with. Does the thing at the front of the inlet manifold that resembles an air flow meter come off separately?

Some screws could be spline or even security screws like a torx with a little pin in the middle

I think it's a throttle body. Can't see any screws/torx etc. Does anyone know if they are just a push fit into the inlet? Really don't want to force anything until I know. I've located torx screws on the inlet itself but don't have the tools to remove back ones...so little space. Would make it possible to do though if I can remove the 'throttle body' on it's own.

Hi Richard, thanks for reply. I will take one in the morning. I now know from looking at parts on ebay it's the egr and i'm pretty sure it just pushes in.

Better photos needed, then we should be able to post the relevant parts diagram.

EGR valves tend to be better secured than push in fittings.

That's what I thought but just found a photo online of the same one and it is indeed just a push fit.
