Diagbox Access to Vehicle Communication Card

Post by Nelix »

Hi all

I am having a few issues with Diagbox following install. I’ve looked through the forum but can’t find anything that appears to help.

I have purchased a new VCI, full chip revision C, I’m running a Windows 7 laptop with no previous versions of lexia/Diagbox ever having been installed. I have installed Diagbox and all updates up to V07.58. VCI have ver 4.3.2 firmware.

My issue is that when I plug the VCI in and start Diagbox, I select the vehicle and get the following error:

Access to Vehicle Communication Card impossible.

Have I missed a step or is there a known fix for this?

Regards

This sounds like a permissions issue during installation.

When you installed (with admin rights I hope) you would of got a lot of firewall requests. If these were skipped or not allowed through, then the firewall will block all the communication from the ports.

Plug in the USB into each USB port on your laptop and allow the drivers to install, unplug and repeat on the other ports.

Thanks for the advice.

The account on the laptop is an admin account. My firewall was turned off during install and when I turned it on and tried a different port I got the “Allow through firewall” requests, I allowed them all but still getting the same message in Diagbox.

Ok, so next, go into power settings - advanced section - and make sure setting for USB ports is not set to selectively suspend - disable all power saving on these, as that can also switch the ports off if under battery power.

Hi all.

So I have come back to this after a month or so. Decided to uninstall, run the cleaner and start again.

Installed v7.01 and when I try to activate it says:

Error during installation of lexia. You have to reactivate to restart the installation.

Should I be running the install media as admin (right click and run as)?

And should I leave the interface unplugged?

What vehicle were you having issues with using it on in your first post by the way?

You don't need it plugged in to install.

Make sure Windows 7 is fully patched using the last available (Service pack 3)
Make sure no residual previous installation files are on the computer - uninstall Diagbox first using uninstall programmes in the Control Panel
Then use DB cleaner to tidy up the registry and any orphan files.
Disable all anti Virus software including Windows Defender
Allow ALL firewall requests
Ensure network / Wifi card is enabled (but not connected to the internet) and ensure that it is not set to automatically connect to the internet.
Run the installation as Administrator
Run the updates as Administrator

Ok, tried a different version of Diagbox and it’s gone past the activation, just waiting for it to finish so looks like it was a duff install media

I have successfully installed Diagbox prior to any updates, and as soon as I say No to updates it gives me the message “access to the vehicle communication card impossible, validate to try again or cancel to ignore.”

I’m assuming this is not normal

Try unplugging and than plugging in the USB cable (and then click on validate). One thing that can help is if you plug the USB cable into each USB port in turn. Then (if the system decides to play ball) it will (usually) recognise the VCI regardless of which port it is plugged into.

Thanks Hell Razor, everything looks like it’s working as it should now. Just installing all the updates.
