My 2009 1.6HDi sump is stuck on by the sealant. I have all the bolts out and have unwound the 2 studs that are supposed to release the sump. From what I've read, the sump can be a bit difficult to remove because of the sealant, but I'm really surprised by just how well this is stuck.
Does anyone have experience / tips on how to get the sump off from the block?
OK, here's my solution. As per Mr Haynes, get a paint scraper / putty knife and work it along between the block & sump. After getting the scraper most of the way down the long rear side, the rear & sides came free. Then it was a case of rocking from side to side.
