Various C5 X7 Issues

Post by Haych »

I have been in contact with "easy diagnostics" with a view to buy their full diagnostic set up for Citroen/Peugoet, i am just trying to get a second opinion on the car i just bought . if i get confirmation it is not going to an immediate money pit? i will start tooling up for all the jobs, fixing the blower would be good , thanks for explaining about the VIN as i am unsure it is a good idea to post online?
Issues so far , wheel hammering vibration at high speed (hopefully wheel balance), oil dip stick snapped (already advised not to worry about) "oil warning level not measurable" flashes up after ignition on position, oil level on dip too high, blower / fan won't switch off unless you switch engine off. brakes so crap cannot get anti locking to work (new discs and pads recently fitted). thats all at moment as i no feel for the car yet i cannot say it it drives as per...

It's quite safe to post your VIN on the forum as it can only be seen by mods and admins. All the rest of us will see is a series of dashes.

The oil level warning and flashing message can be normal as it works only under certain conditions including timing. The level read will only be correct if the vehicle is on level ground and the engine has been off for more than 15 minutes.

That specific message will probably be related to the sensor. Just check correct level with the dipstiick (when you have another one).

Wheel vibration will very likely be wheels balanced incorrectly.

If you have problem with he ABS it will have a warning and a fault code. Possibly a sensor, dirty, faulty or bad wiring connection.

I’m moving this thread into the Citroen section now as this is where it will be better served.

^ Removed the VIN - it was incorrect anyway or it would automatically have been masked.
Passed on to Marc but he will need the correct one.

It's likely to be the Blower Control Module. Once these are fried it's all or nothing. Needs replacing.

Part number: 6441S7

See my post here - the diagram shows for a left hand drive - so ignore pedals - but it is on the passenger side.

viewtopic.php?p=499891#p499891

As for A/C - that will need a leak test as if there is no gas it will disengage the compressor for safety. Any decent A/C place or even Kwik Fit or ATS have A/C stations now for conditioning the system. They can do a leak test. Finding the leak is the issue - as even with a dye it can be hard. A common location is the condenser radiator to the right of the main rad as you stand in front of the bonnet. Stone chips nick these and kaput.

erm, the air con? i lost confidence in air con specialists' got ripped off last time , so now i will do it my self . Hopefully with a little guidance? i looked into those kits from halfrauds 25 quid last time i looked . as for the leak check i have one of those hand vac / pressure pumps also plumbing pressure gauges, i reckon i can some how pressure the system and watch the gauge. 6 psi will that be sufficient. i am looking at buying the manual dvds a fellow member offered, as i have no idea yet where many things live, ie the refill valves for the air con.

the blower module i am told is hundred quid? i was hoping for circuit diagram now you've shown me where the module is (thanks) i want to take some measurements and see if i can fix it myself,

They do have a tendency to be short lived.
Mines an older model, first I bought from the dealer, didn't last more that a year.
Next from eBay (£20) lasted the car out.
Next, in current car, eBay (China) £10 and has lasted several years.

A/C Valves - easily located as pictures in an unrelated post here:

viewtopic.php?p=573643#p573643

I would just watch out for those kits - I've used one before and the gauge was useless - ended up nearly over filling and had to let all the gas out and start again (cue climate change police  ) - so totally unreliable and if you over gas it - you can brick it. I did have kwik fit do a full service on my MK II C5 a good few years back - hoovered the lot out, disinfected and cleaned the system and then put the correct quantities of gas and oil back. They did a good job (and I stayed and scrutinised everything).

I do have the gas volumes for the system - I'll look it up in the morning for you.
